My name is Joseph Collins. I am a student at Ohio University and my major is Journalism - News and Information track and a minor in Sports Management. I will graduate in the spring of 2023 in hopes of one day being an anchor or reporter for a television station.
Over the past three years, I have been an MMJ and paid student employee for WOUB Public Media, a PBS station in Athens, Ohio. There I have gotten to work and be a significant contributor to many of the stations biggest shows including Newswatch, Gridiron Glory, Hardwood Heroes, The Outlet and Bobcat Sports Showcase. I am a news/sports anchor, reporter, anchor and editor in capacity for all of the shows listed before.
Aside from WOUB, I have also gotten to work with Ohio Athletics, which works with all of Ohio University's sports teams as well as ESPN3 as a camera operator/audio technician. This combined with my contributions at WOUB has prepared me for multiple career paths when that time comes in the spring of 2023 as I begin the next part of my life.
In 2021, I interned with the Akron RubberDucks as a media and public relations intern and got to work with their media department and coordinate media availability, write and release pre and post game press releases, string for the MiLB stringer app and put together the programs for the fans and media among many other daily responsibilities. In December of 2021, I also had a media/PR internship with the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana. For the summer of 2022, I will have two internships that I will be doing. I am a writer for Guardians Baseball Insider and am their lead reporter for their Cleveland Guardians coverage. Starting June 1st, I will be interning at WBTV in Charlotte, North Carolina on their Investigative reporting track.
I am somebody that works hard and is always willing to take on a challenge head on. As you can read from my bio, I am very experienced for someone my age and I am very excited about my potential future.
