GUARDIANS PROSPECTS
Dayan Frias (Monteria, SS): 3-5, 1 R, 2 2B, 2 RBI – Frias continues to rake in Colombia, likely due in part to the late start to his offseason campaign and the additional rest that comes with it. Last night’s pair of doubles were part of the second multi-hit game in a row for Dayan, who has reached base in six of seven games this Colombian season and is slashing .294/.424/.519. While the LPB may not be as well-known as some of the other winter ball leagues, it is a good level of baseball and Frias’ performance there is an extremely welcome sign.
Meibrys Viloria (Cartagena, DH): 0-5, 1 K – Viloria, who is in the running to be the backup catcher at the Corner of Carnegie and Ontario this coming season, did not fare as well as he extended his hitless streak to three games (0-for-12).
Richie Palacios (Mayaguez, 2B): 0-3, 1 Sac Bunt – Palacios, the lone Guardian prospect playing outside of Colombia on Thursday, fared little better, managing a productive plate appearance via a sixth-innings sacrifice bunt.
