GUARDIANS PLAYERS
Richie Palacios (Mayaguez, 2B): 2-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 1 CS – Palacios started the game with a single, setting the tone for a huge night which would see him tie the game on an eighth-inning solo shot, ultimately sending the game to extras, where he would drive in an insurance run in the top of the tenth but not receive an RBI since he did so by rounding into a 4-6-3 double play.
Gabriel Arias (Santurce, 3B): 2-4, 1 R – Arias also had a two-hit night in Puerto Rico, but his was not as spectacular and ended in him grounding out to the Ponce catcher to end the game.
Jonathan Rodriguez (Carolina, LF): 2-5, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 4 RBI – Both of them were overshadowed, however, by J-Rod, whose pair of extra-base hits accounted for half of the Gigantes’ runs in their blowout victory on Tuesday.
Andres Gimenez (Lara – Game 1, SS): 2-3, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 BB – Gimenez opened Tuesday’s twi-night doubleheader with his first multi-hot game and first extra-base hit of the season.
Andres Gimenez (Lara – Game 2, SS): 1-4, 1 SB – The nightcap was not as spectacular, but he continued his season-opening streak of five games with a productive plate appearance.
Meibrys Viloria (Cartagena, 1B): 1-2, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 1 K – Viloria led off the bottom of the second with a home run to score the former of the Tigres’ two runs last night.
Dahan Batista (Barranquilla, RP): 1 IP, 1 H – The only Guardians pitcher to take the mound last night closed out the game with a solid ninth.
Finally, congratulations to RubberDucks Clubhouse Manager Shad Gross on being named the Eastern League Home Clubhouse Manager of the Year!
