Venezuelan League – Tiburones de La Guaira 10, Aguilas del Zulia 1

GUARDIANS PROSPECTS

Angel Martinez (Peoria, DH): 1-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K – Martinez’s two-run shot to left center got the Javelinas day at the plate off to a hot start.  One that would cool off faster than a cup of coffee in an ice rink as the Peoria nine would manage only one more run the rest of the game (blowing a 72.4% win probability).  Speaking of that run…

David Fry (Peoria, C): 1-4, 1 R, 1 K – The Guardians org would be involved in all three Javelina runs yesterday as Fry scored the third and final tally in the bottom of the fourth on a double off the bat of Padres outfield prospect Tiso Ornelas.

Hunter Stanley (Peoria, SP): 4.2 IP, 7 H, 6 R (all earned), 2 BB, 4 K, 1 HR allowed, 1 WP – Even Stanley’s worst outing of the fall was not without redeeming qualities.  He started the game hurling 2.2 shutout frames and allowing only two hits and throwing a wild pitch before the third devolved into…well, the statline you see above.

Lenny Torres (Peoria, RP): 1 IP, 3 H, 1 R (earned), 1 K, 1 HR – Torres did a Wallenda-level tightrope act to get out of the top of the ninth without further damage after allowing a one-out homer to give the Scorpions their eleventh run of their blowout victory.

Jaison Chourio (Zulia, PH): 0-1 – Chourio grounded into the game’s penultimate out 6-3 as he remains hitless while receiving only sporadic late-inning at-bats.
