HIGHLIGHTS

Angel Martinez (Lake County, DH): 2-4, 2 R, 1 BB – Martinez extended his on-base streak to 27 games and his hitting streak to seven with a two-hit effort that improved his August slash line to .358/.386/.547.

Petey Halpin (Lake County, CF): 2-4, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB – Halpin continues to mash in August as he improved his slash line for the month to .319/.418/.660 with this multi-hit, multi-run effort.

Cesar Idrogo (Lynchburg, RF): 2-3, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 Outfield Assist – Idrogo – who supplied all of the game;s scoring on one swing of the bat – is raking, to put it lightly.  His streaks now stand at six (hitting) and 18 (on-base) – the latter being all of his games this season with multiple plate appearances.  Unsurprisingly, his season slash line is stratospheric at .350/.458/.517.

REHAB

Bryan Lavastida (Akron – Game 1, C): 0-3, 2 K – Lavastida went hitless for the first time in over a week (last Wednesday) in Thursday evening’s opener.

BEST OF THE REST

Ernie Clement (Columbus, 2B): 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 3 RBI – Clement has only five hits over his last five games, but they include a triple and two homers, including last night’s three-run shot that gave the Clippers an early lead.

Mitchell Tolman (Columbus, DH): 2-4, 1 R, 1 2B – Tolman, who scored what looked like an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh when LF Richie Palacios grounded into a 6-3 double play,  raised his August batting average to .316 with this two-hit evening.

Hunter Gaddis (Columbus, SP): ND, 5 IP, 6 H, 2 R (both earned), 2 BB, 7 K, 1 HBP, 1 HR allowed – After a double and homer back-to-back in the first, Gaddis settled down to pitch 4.2 scoreless frames in his best outing of this month.

Micah Pries (Akron – Game 1, 1B): 1-2, 1 BB, 1 K – Pries extended his hitting streak to four games and was the only RubberDuck to reach twice in the opener of yesterday’s doubleheader.

Chris Roller (Akron – Game 1, CF): 1-2, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K – Roller has reached in six straight after his second-inning RBI double.

Johnathan Rodriguez (Akron – Game 1, LF): 1-3. 2 K – Rodriguez extended his hitting streak to eight games and on-base streak to 17 before seeing both end in the nightcap.

Randy Labaut (Akron – Game 1, RP): 2 IP, 1 H, 3 BB, 2 K – Despite some control issues, Labaut has still not allowed an earned run in 9.1 August innings.

Micah Pries (Akron – Game 2, 1B): 0-2, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 SB – Pries extended his team lead with his 18th stolen base of the 2022 campaign.

Eli Lingos (Akron – Game 2, SP): ND, 5 IP, 3 H, 2 K – Lingos has not allowed an earned run in four outings this month, including starts in his two most recent outings, while holding Eastern League hitters to an .073 batting average.

Alexfri Planez (Lake County, RF): 2-5, 2 2B, 2 RBI, 1 K, 1 E – Planez broke out of his rough start to this roadtrip (0-for-5) with his first multi-hit effort since July 26.

Conor Kokx (Lake County, LF): 2-4, 1 R – Kokx’s on-base streak reached eight games last night.

Davis Sharpe (Lake County, RP): 3 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 3 K, 1 HBP – Sharpe has pitched 8.1 shutout innings in his last four outings.

Trey Benton (Lake County, RP): 1 IP, 1 H – Midwest League hitters are barely staying above the Mendoza Line against Benton in August (.211).

Junior Sanquintin (Lynchburg, 1B): 2-4, 1 2B – Sanquintin has reached in seven straight following his sixth multi-hit game of the month.

Ryan Webb (Lynchburg, SP): ND, 5.2 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 8 K – Webb got the no-decision in his best outing of the season so far due to a lack of run support.

Josh Wolf (Lynchburg, RP): W (1-2): 2 IP, 1 H, 2 K – Wolf was impressive in his return to the Hillcats.

Franco Aleman (Lynchburg, RP): S (1), 1 IP, perfect, 2 K – Aleman’s transition to the bullpen took another step with his first professional save.

Moises Molero (DSL Blue, LF): 2-4, 1 RBI – Molero extended his on-base streak to nine games with the Guardians Blue’s only multi-hit effort of  Thursday’s game.

Jose Cedeno (DSL Blue, C): 1-3, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 HBP – Cedeno’s two RBI yesterday bring his August total to nine in thirty plate appearances.

Alberto Mendez (DSL Blue, 3B): 1-2. 2 R. 1 3B, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 SB, 1 E – Yesterday’s triple and a home run last Friday have accounted for seven of Mendez’s nine total bases this month.

Miguel Lopez (DSL Blue, DH): 1-2, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 BB – Lopez has driven in three runs in five plate appearances since his return to competitive baseball from a month-long absence (likely injury-related, but it’s hard to tell in the DSL as the 7-day IL doesn’t really see use there since it’s practically useless – doesn’t clear space on the 70-man and each DSL team can carry 35).

Jose Ramirez (DSL Blue, RP): W (3-0), 2.2 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 4 K – Ten days after allowing three unearned runs in a third of an inning, Ramirez returned to the mound and dominated to keep his career record in individual decisions unblemished.

Christopher Espinola (DSL Red, LF): 2-4 – Espinola’s fifth multi-hit game of August brings his slash line for the month to .324/.390/.432
