Willie Hood’s Analysis:

The 22-year-old Rapp concluded his high school career by winning the state championship with Delbarton High School in New Jersey. As a freshman in 2020, the lefty made eight appearances all in relief logging 7.1 innings striking out six, and walking three. In 2021 as a sophomore, he made 25 appearances, 20 in relief, and five starts working 46.2 innings, striking out 59 (11.38 K9) while surrendering 14 free passes (2.70 BB9). Rapp pitched that summer (2021) for the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod Baseball League where he made three appearances, two in relief, and one start logging 13 punchouts and 2 walks. Returning for his junior season in 2022, he made 42 appearances, 40 in relief with two starts racking up 59 strikeouts (11.8 K9) to 22 walks (4.4 BB9) while surrendering 42 hits (8.4 H9).

On the mound, it’s a mature frame with a low-three quarters release giving him deception. Rapp repeats his delivery and displays average command. He’s primarily a two-pitch pitcher working with an 88-90 mph fastball that touches 92. Rapp’s best pitch is an above-average sweeping slider in the 78-81 mph range. The left-hander has an underdeveloped change of pace giving him a three-pitch arsenal to work from. He is expected to sign in the coming days and will likely start his 2023 season at Low-A Lynchburg.

Press release:

Rapp pitched in 3 seasons for the Tar Heels, going 5-2 with a 4.32 ERA (49ER/102.0IP) in 75 career appearances/7 starts.
During his 2022 sophomore campaign, the southpaw led all Division I players with 42 pitching appearances (including 2

starts), also good for 4th-most in UNC program history. The 22-year-old finished his 2022 season averaging 11.8 strikeouts-
per-9.0 innings with a 2.7 strikeout-to-walk ratio. A native of Mendham, NJ, the left-hander attended Delbarton HS

(Morristown, NJ), the same high school as current New York Yankees #1 prospect Anthony Volpe ( Over his junior
