Willie Hood’s Analysis:
As a freshman in 2020, Jasiak made four starts logging 23.1 innings while striking out 28 (10.8 K9) and walking five (1.93 BB9 hitters). The right-hander broke out in 2021 making 16 starts over 98.1 innings recording 93 punchouts (8.51 K9) to just 23 walks (2.11 BB9). He followed that up with four strong starts for Falmouth of the Cape Cod League recording 16 strikeouts (7.71 K9) to 4 walks (1.93 BB9) in 18.2 innings over four starts. In an abbreviated 2022, the righty struck out 30 (9.88 K9) while walking two (0.66 BB9) batters in 27.1 innings. His season ended abruptly due to a shoulder injury, resulting in a drop in his draft stock. If healthy the right-hander would have likely landed in the later half of the 5-7 round range. According to Guardians Scouting Director Scott Barnsby, he is healthy now.
As the numbers validate, the right-hander has a reputation for throwing strikes. Per USF Baseball (on Twitter), Jasiak recorded 17 quality starts among his 25 career appearances for the Bulls. That is indicative of his ability to compete but also work through lineups while balancing his pitch counts. On the bump, Jasiak sits 90-92 mph, touching 93 mph with recent reports of 94 mph. It’s a four-pitch mix with a mid-80s change of pace, a late sinking slider in the low-80s, and a curve in the mid-70s. Jasiak displays a quick arm and delivers from a low-three-quarters arm slot. The right-hander can hit his spots and displays plus command. The right-hander is expected to sign in the next few days.
Jasiak went 9-9 with a 2.66 ERA (44ER/149.0IP) across 25 games/starts over three seasons for the Bulls. The right-hander
served as USF’s Friday-night starter at the beginning of the 2022 campaign and was off to a stellar start, going 2-0 with a
1.32 ERA (4ER/27.1IP) across 5 starts, before being shut down in late March due to injury. Jasiak was named to the 2022
Preseason All-AAC Team unanimously after posting a standout redshirt freshman campaign for the Bulls, in which he went 6-
7 with a 2.93 ERA (32ER/98.1IP) and ranked highly in conference opponent batting average (2nd, .205) and innings pitched
(T3rd, 43.0). Originally from Naperville, IL, the 21-year-old moved to Spring Hill, FL at age five and went on to attend F.W.
Springstead High School.
