Willie Hood’s Analysis:
The native of British Colombia re-classified to the 2022 MLB Draft class making him the youngest player available this cycle. According to Prospects Live, Zibin added 2 inches and 25 pounds of muscle to his frame. He is very young and still maturing physically, with added strength and professional development, Zibin could add more velocity and depth to his secondaries in the future. Zibin is committed to the University of South Carolina but is expected to officially sign with rumors of an agreement already in place surfacing on the internet.
On the mound, the 6’4, 218 soon-to-be-former prep arm displays an athletic frame and quick arm from three-quarters delivery. The right-hander has an easy 92-95 mph four-seamer that touches 97 mph with reports of 98 mph, and his two-seamer sits 91-92 mph. Zibin’s sinking 83-85 mph change-up flashes plus and can generate swing and miss. He rounds out his repertoire with a developing slider in the low-to-mid 80s mph range. The talented right-hander will likely start his professional career in the Arizona Complex League and stay there for an extended period.
RHP Jacob Zibin is up to 95 in the first, but after two whiffs up Eli Serrano barrels one—right to the 2B for the final out. Sitting 91-94 with some sinking action and has flashed plus with an 79-81 change that has fall off the table action. High 70s sweeper yet to be seen. pic.twitter.com/HoJi5Wn0bo
2023 Jacob Zibin was dominant in his start at the #LangleyInvitational. Working off a FB 93-95, Zibin racked up 11Ks through 4ip utilizing a sharp SL 82-84 and CH w depth 83-85. 2Seam had devastating movement at 91-92. 4ip, 11K, 1H, 0BB@JacobZibin@Langleyblazepic.twitter.com/5vzmTBF12P
