Rookie – Dominican Summer League Guardians Blue 3, Dominican Summer League Royals Glass 0 (Scheduled Game – SUSPENDED – MID 5TH – LIGHTNING)
Rookie – Dominican Summer League Astros Orange 9, Dominican Summer League Guardians Red 8

Evelio Hernandez (DSL Blue – Scheduled Game, SP): 4 IP, 2 H, 8 K – While the game may not be over, Hernandez’s involvement in it is, and it was spectacular.  As in his first two starts of July, he allowed no earned runs in four innings.  This time, however, there were no unearned runs.  For those wondering, while no one else has thrown a pitch for the Guardians Blue in this game, Evekio cannot be the restart pitcher as Jose Ramirez (no relation) had been announced as the new pitcher for the bottom of the eighth before the game was suspended.

Carlos Gutierrez (DSL Blue – Suspended Game, RF): 2-3 – Gutierrez hit a single on each day to account for half of the Guardians Blue’s hits.

Nomar Velasquez (DSL Blue – Suspended Game, DH): 1-3, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 SB – Velasquez was the only other Guardian Blue to reach twice (both times yesterday).

Yanki Jean-Baptiste (DSL Red, 2B):1-4, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 2 K, 1 HBP – Jean-Baptiste makes it 17 in a row reaching safely as he ended his brief two-game hit drought.

Jaison Chourio (DSL Red, CF): 3-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SB, 1 E – Chourio makes it back-to-back multi-RBI games and four in his last five as he approaches an RBI-per-game pace (22 in 23 games).

Pedro Hernandez (DSL Red, SS): 0-2, 2 R, 3 BB, 1 K – Hernandez has walked in eight of the nine games he has played in this month, including multiple times in four of his last six games, resulting in a 7:13 July K:BB ratio.

Christopher Espinola (DSL Red, LF): 2-4, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K – Espinola, who got back over .300 (.303) with yesterday’s multi-hit effort, is, like Chourio, nearing an RBI per game (19 in 22 games).

Yorfran John (DSL Blue – Scheduled Game, starting SS): 2-2, 2 R, 1 RBI – John continued his blazing start to his professional career with two hits in as many at0bats before being pinch-hit for in the fourth, not to mention being involved in all three Guardians Blue runs so far.  For those wondering, his statline including the two suspended games he has played in is 4-for-5, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB.

Alberto Mendez (DSL Blue – Scheduled Game, 2B): 2-3, 1 K – Mendez has the other multi-hit effort so far, guaranteeing him a second multi-hit game in his last three.

Luis Aparicio (DSL Blue – Scheduled Game, CF): 1-3, 1 RBI – Aparicio’s second-inning single extended his career-opening on-base streak to five games and accounted for the Guardians Blue’s other RBI (John scored the game’s first run on a wild pitch).
