Jack Leftwich (Lake County, SP): W (2-0 in High-A, 6-2 overall), 6 IP, 2 H, 11 K, 1 HBP – Leftwich continues to roll over Midwest League hitting as he shows no signs of needing to adjust to the higher tier of A-ball.  Through his first two starts, he has allowed only three hits, two walks, and a hit batter while striking out 15 in 11.2 shutout innings.  That comes out to a 0/41 WHIp and .081 opponents’ batting average.  This guy is “the Captains should list his starts on the promotional schedule” good.

Alexfri Planez (Lake County, RF): 1-4, 1 RBI, 2 K 1 CS – Planez just keeps hitting, and hitting, and hitting some more.  He extended his hitting streak to 22 games with a third-inning single that drove in the only run of the game (his 35th RBI of the season).

Cody Morris (ACL, SP): 1 IP, 2K – Morris dominated in his first official game in 290 days.

Gabriel Arias (Columbus, SS): 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K – Arias’ fifth homer of the season was the highlight of a rough night for the Clippers lineup.

Will Brennan (Columbus, CF): 0-4 – While Brennan had a rare hitless night, he did make a spectacular catch to rob Indianapolis of a home run.

Tim Herrin (Columbus, RP): 2 IP, 1 H, 2 K – Herrin, who joined the parade of spectacular defensive plays with an impressive assist on a play at the plate, has not allowed an earned run in his last six outings (9.1 innings).

Logan Allen (Columbus, SP): 4.2IP, 5H, 3ER, 5BB, 9K – Allen didn’t pitch all that bad, but had walks that hurt him when getting ahead in the count where he couldn’t finish batters off. Despite that, he fanned nine and looks to be headed in the right direction finally in Triple-A.

Angel Martinez (Lake County, 2B): 1-4, 1 K, 1 E – Martinez extended his on-base streak to twelve games in Tuesday’’s matinee.

Jack DeGroat (Lake County, RP): H (1), 1 IP, perfect – DeGroat remains unscored upon in 4.1 July innings after this perfect seventh.

Davis Sharpe (Lake County, RP): S (1), 2 IP, 1 H, 3 K, 1 WP – Sharpe earned his first High-A save (and second overall as a pro) in multi-inning fashion.

Dayan Frias (Lynchburg, SS): 1-3, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 E – Frias’ sixth-inning double continued the Hillcats’ comeback and cut the deficit to seven runs.

Joe Donovan (Lynchburg, C): 1-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K – Donovan followed by doubling in Frias to bring the score to 10-4 and extend his on-base streak to nine games.  Unfortunately, after this half-inning, the rain started to fall and cut the Hillcats’ rally short.

Yeury Gervacio (Lynchburg, RP): 1 IP, 1 K, 1 HBP – Gervacio made it back-to-back scoreless outings with this stellar sixth.

Wuilfredo Antunez (ACL, CF): 1-5, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K – Antunez has reached in seven straight after his third-inning homer last night.

Angel Genao (ACL, SS): 2-5, 1 SB, 1 CS – Genao is on a tear.  Not only does he have a five-game hitting streak, all of those games have been multi-hit.  During the streak, he is 11-for-24 (.458).

Sterling Romero (ACL, DH): 1-4, 2 R, 1 K, 1 SB – Romero extended his season-opening hit streak to eight games and is slashing .438/.441/.500.

Manuel Mejias (ACL, C): 1-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 2 RBI – Mejias has amassed multiple total bases in each of the last four games in which he has had multiple plate appearances.

Alonzo Richardson (ACL, RP): W (4-0), 5 IP, 5 H, 1 R (earned), 3 K. 1 HR allowed – In ten innings this month, Richardson has allowed only one earned run on eight hits with a 9:2 K:BB ratio.

Jhon Vergara (ACL, RP): H (2), 1.2 IP, 1 BB – Since debuting for the season last Tuesday, Vergara has hurled 3.2 frames.without allowing an earned run.
