Triple-A: Columbus Clippers 5, Toledo Mud Hens 4
Double-A: Richmond Flying Squirrels 6, Akron RubberDucks 0
High-A: West Michigan White Caps 2, Lake County Captains 1
Single-A: Lynchburg Hillcats 8, Carolina Mudcats 2

David Fry (3B, Columbus); 1-4, HR, 3 RBI – After just missing a grand slam yesterday, Fry came back with a walkoff three run homer tonight to give the Clippers a win.

RHP Peyton Battenfield (SP, Columbus): 5.2IP, 4H, 2E, 2BB, 6K –  Battenfield finally had a start where he struck out  over a hitter per inning. That’s a good sign to see his strikeouts at more than one per inning. He’s had decent results this year but the strikeouts have been down.

George Valera (RF, Akron): 2-4, 2B – Even on a quiet night for the talented RuberDucks, Valera still managed to find a way to put some bat on the ball.

Jhonkensy Noel (RF, Lake County): 2-4, HR – After a nine game homerless stretch, Noel now homered in three straight games. Even better, he hasn’t struck out once in any of those three games.

VIctor Planchart (1B, Lynchburg): 2-3, 2B, 2RBI, 2BB – Planchart really isn’t your normal first basemen given that he’s filling in for Will Bartlett and Planchart is a smaller stature catcher, but it’s really hard to argue with how much he’s been hitting.

LHP Will Dion (SP, Lynchburg): 6IP, 4H, BB, 4K – Dion hasn’t allowed a run in his last three starts, spanning 16 innings.

RHP James Karinchak (RP, Columbus): 0.2IP, 2ER, 2BB, 2K – Karinchak looks like he’s fine other than needing to knock off the results. Hopefully the results start to follow as he does get back into the swing of things. The strikeouts here were a decent sign.

Notable Performances

LHP Doug Nikhazy (SP, Lake County): 5IP, 3H, 2ER, 6BB, 2K – Nikhazy somehow isn’t all that hittable and doesn’t always pay for the mistakes caused by his control.

RHP Xzavion Curry (followed Burns, Akron): 5IP, 5H, 3R (2ER) BB, 8K – It wasn’t Curry’s best outing but it was an improvement considering he’s hit some bumps in the road his last few starts.

RHP Tanner Burns (SP, Akron): 2IP, 2K – Two perfect innings for Burns as he comes off the IL and reportedly sat 94-95.

Will Brennan (LF, Columbus): 1-4, 2B, 2K – Brennan did strike out twice and hasn’t been drawing walks, but Willie Two bags keeps finding his way on base.

RHP Kyle Marman (RP, Akron): 0.1IP, 2H, 3ER, 2BB, K – In April and May, Marman was virtually untouchable. The trio of him, Kelly and Misiaszek were incredible at keeping guys off base. But Marman has also hit some bumps lately.

RHP Nate Ocker (RP, Lake County): 3IP, 2K – The system shuffled right hander gave the Captains three really needed perfect innings.

RHP Cade Smith (RP, Lake County): IP, 3K – Smith hasn’t had a save chance on this homestand but has done a good job in the chances he’s getting anyway.

Jorge Burgos (RF, Lynchburg): 1-4, HR, RBI – Burgos hit a two out solo homer in the bottom of the first to put the Hillcats up 1-0, starting off a bit offensive day for the club.

Milan Tolentino (SS, Lynchburg): 1-4, 2 RBI – Tolentino hasn’t been quite as hot the last couple of weeks but he still managed to drive in a pair in this win.

Luis Durango Jr (LF, Lynchburg): 0-1, 3BB, R – Durango walked three times and scored once. Shockingly, no steals. But he’s clearly patient and knows the zone. The hit tool is going to need some work, but at least he has a good base of an approach to work from

Dayan Frias (3B, Lynchburg): 1-2, R, 2B, RBI, BB – Another solid day for Frias, getting on base twice, adding an extra base hit and an RBI with it.

Yordys Valdes (2B, Lynchburg): 1-4, RBI, 2B, BB – Another hitter who got on base twice with a double and a walk and driving in a run.

RHP Tyler Thornton (RP, Lynchburg): iP, H, 2K – Another solid outing for Thornton as he continues to shake off his bad start.
