Triple-A: Buffalo Bisons at Columbus Clippers (PPD, rain)
Double-A: Akron RubberDucks 4, New Hampshire Fisher Cats 2
High-A: Lake County Captains, 3 Peoria Chiefs
Single-A: Lynchburg Hillcats 6, Columbia Fireflies 0

LHP Joey Cantillo (SP, Akron): 5IP, H, BB, 7K – 71% strikes for Cantillo (67 pitches-48 strikes). His fastball command was good, he was getting ugly swings and misses and getting called strike threes. Cantillo ends the month of May on a dominant stretch. He didn’t allow a run in 22 innings, while striking out 33 and walking just four batters. Consider his stock, on the rise.

George Valera (RF, Akron): 2-4, HR, 3 RBI – Valera remains on a heater as well. In his nine game hitting streak, Valera is 17-43 (.395) with seven multi hit games and 18 RBI. He has homers in five of his last seven games.

Brayan Rocchio (2B, Akron): 1-3, 2B, BB, 2R – Rocchio doubled and later scored on Valera’s RBI single, before his homer. He was on base twice, including an extra base hit and made two pretty nice plays at second, which is no surprise.

RHP Mason Hickman (SP, Lake County): 5IP, 3H, ER, BB, 5K – After his blowup start in Cedar Rapids last week, but he rebounded nicely for his sixth outing allowing a run or less. His ERA is a little inflated as he’s allowed 13 in 22.2 innings this year, but 11 in two different outings.

RHP Trenton Denholm (SP, Lynchburg): 5IP, H, BB, 4K – After a couple of bumpy outings, Denholm recorded a nice comeback outing and came in at 69% strikes.

Notable Performances

Chris Roller (LF, Akron): 2-4, HR, R, RBI – Roller’s solo homer in his first game off of the developmental list got the RubberDucks scoring going. He’ll have some more opportunities to play with Will Brennan in Columbus now.

RHP Kyle Marman (RP, Akron): IP, K – Marman picked up his second save for Akron, lowering his ERA to 1.76.

RHP Cade Smith (RP, Lake County): 1.1IP, 2H, BB, 3K – Raymond Burgos fanned a pair in the late innings but ran into some trouble. Cade Smith came in behind him and cleaned it up and shut the door.

Alexfri Planez (RF, Lake County): 1-4, 2B –  Planez has a couple big hits, a homer and a double, since his return from the IL. It’s not consistent, but it’s something.

Joe Naranjo (1B, Lake County): 1-4, 3B, 2 RBI – He had three strikeouts, but Naranjo had a triple that drove in a run.

Petey Halpin (CF, Lake County): 1-4, R, RBI – Halpin has had a few hits since missing one game this week and drove in a run in the win on Thursday.

Luis Durango (RF, Lynchburg): 1-3, BB, 2 SB – Durango is 12/16 this year in steals and even though he’s not getting many hits, he is getting on base and running at will when he does.

LHP Yeury Gervacio (RP, Lynchburg): 2IP, H, BB, 3K – It hasn’t been a great year for the 22 year old left hander, but he’s had a couple of two inning outings without a run on his line – three including this one. THe other seven weren’t quite as good.

Isaiah Greene (LF, Lynchburg): 0-2, 2 BB, R  – No hits, but two more walks for Greene, who continues to work counts to get on base even when he’s struggling at the plate. Shockingly no steals for him in this one.

Yordys Valdes (2B, Lynchburg): 1-4, R, RBI – Valdes continues to find green in the outfield one way or another. His average is .269 now but it was up to .295 earlier this month.
