Vaqueros de Monteria 7, Gigantes de Barranquilla 1

Dayan Frias (2B/SS, Vaqueros de Monteria): 1-4, BB, RBI – Frias hasn’t hit as much the last 10 days or so now, but he’s still contributing offensively with a hit here and there and working walks. He wasn’t going to stay as hot as he was forever but he has a 12 game on-base streak. All of this is pretty impressive for a 19 year old in winter ball playing against an assorted level of professionals from Colombia, some of which have more pro experience than he does.

Caimanes de Barranquilla 13, Tigres de Cartagena 4

Sandy Leon (C, Caimanes de Barranquilla): 1-3 – Leon played in his first game since December 18 and collected a hit, giving him a five game hitting streak and has hits in six of his eight games played this winter. His OBP is .375 but his SLG is a paltry .296. Here’s to hoping Cleveland addresses its catching needs when the lockout ends beyond Leon’s return to the great lakes.
