DOMINICAN WINTER LEAGUE (LIDOM) ESTRELLAS ORIENTALES 4, TOROS DEL ESTE 3 (10 INNINGS) Anthony Gose (Toros, RP): 1 IP, 1 K, 1 HBP – Gose continues to dominate LIDOM as […]
Anthony Gose (Toros, RP): 1 IP, 1 K, 1 HBP – Gose continues to dominate LIDOM as he extended his shutout streak to 5.2 innings in seven games. In 14 total outings this season, he has thrown 11.1 frames, allowing only two earned runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out 16. (1.59 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, 12.71 K/9, 1.59 BB/9).
Oscar Gonzalez (Estrellas, starting RF): 0-2, 2 K – Gonzalez whiffed twice on Friday before being pinch hit for in the seventh. He has now gone hitless in consecutive games for the third time this season (has not had a three-game hitless streak yet).
Enyel De Los Santos (Licey, RP): 0 IP, 3 H, 1 R (earned), 1 BB – After nine scoreless frames in six outings, De Los Santos’ proverbial pendulum swung all the way in the other direction with an effort that he can hopefully put behind him quickly.
Johnathan Rodriguez (Carolina, RF): 0-5 – Rodriguez was responsible for nine of the Gigantes’ 33 stranded runners. Yes, you read that right: 33 stranded runners in a win!
Angel Lopez (RA12, C): 2-5, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI – Lopez got out of his mini-slump in grand fashion with this offensive explosion in a rare victory for the prospect-laden, and thus inexperienced, RA12.
Joab Gonzalez (RA12, PH): 0-1, 1 K – Gonzalez continues to see extremely limited playing time (eight at-bats in four games so far) in Puerto Rico.
Angel Contreras (Cartagena, starting 2B): 0-2, 1 K – Like Oscar Gonzalez, Contreras struggled on Friday before being pulled from the game. His exit for a pinch hitter in the seventh made it two days in a row that Contreras started a game but didn’t finish it.
Daniel Aguilar (Barranquilla, LF): 2-4, 2 R, 1 CS – Aguilar’s two-hit game extended his hitting streak to five games. Not surprisingly, Aguilar’s 1.018 season OPS places him sixth in the entire Colombian circuit.
Dayan Frias (Monteria, SS): 1-4, 2 K – Frias played for the first time in front of a home crowd this season (no early-season games were played in Monteria, which the league is now making up for by playing all games in Monteria through December 5) as he returned from Barranquilla, where he won a gold medal as a member of the host nation’s squad in the baseball tournament of the inaugural Junior Pan Am Games. (For those inquiring about his individual statistics in the tournament, I’m going to be honest with you: They are going to take a while for me to cobble together. Let’s just say the publicly available boxscore format on the Games’ website was not designed by baseball people.)
