We’re down to three categories left in the 2021 Cleveland Guardians farm system best tools series. Two of them are in the defensive category and today’s tool rating is best outfield glove.
Like other defensive tool categories we’ve graded out so far, there’s not really many good stats to go on, if any. So we have to rely on what we watch here and combine that with some data points we can find. Outfield defense as a tool can be just the ability to catch the ball all over the grass with great range, but other things like arm can be factored in (though one of our last tools is just purely the best outfield arm in the system). That all includes range and route running and the overall ability to make plays look easy.
As always, the voting system for the tools are three points for the top spot, two for second, and one for third.
See how our own prospect evaluators Justin Lada, Willie Hood, and Joe Coblitz voted for best outfield defense in the Cleveland Guardians system in 2021.
