Scorpions 7, Surprise Saguaros 9

Jose Tena (2B): 2/3, RBI, 2B, 3B – Tena had a banner day at the plate in the Scorpions loss to the Saguaros. He tripled home a run in the second, then doubled in his next at bat in the fourth, but was stranded. He was replaced by a pinch hitter in the sixth.

Richie Palacios (LF): 1/4, R, BB, 2B, E – Palacios walked in his second at bat, then scored on Tena’s triple. He added a double in the eighth, but was stranded.

Tanner Tully (SP): 3 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, BB, K, HR – Tully had a good first inning despite allowing an infield fly to drop for the single to start off the game. He then walked a batter in the second, but used a double play to finish the inning without any other issues. In the third, he allowed a home run, triple, single and double with an error from Palacios essentially turning the single into a double and giving the Saguaros four extra base hits in the inning.

Damon Casetta-Stubbs (RP): 0.1 IP, 3 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, K – Casetta-Stubbs replaced Tully after his disastrous third and had one of his worst appearances this year. He allowed a double and walk to start the inning, the struck out a batter before another walk loaded the bases. A pair of singles followed to give the Saguaros the lead, after which he was pulled for Pinto.

Aaron Pinto (RP): 1.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K – While Pinto’s line looks fairly clean, the two out double he allowed in the fourth brought home two runs that were given to Casetta-Stubbs. The ground out before that also allowed a run that was scored to his teammate. He stayed in for the fifth and allowed a single, but struck out two in a scoreless frame.


Tiburones 7, Aguilas del Zulia 4

Brayan Rocchio: (SS) 0/4, BB, K – Rocchio flew out in the first, grounded out to second and walked in the fourth, grounded out to short in the seventh and struck out as the last out in the ninth.
