As new days dawn on the Guardians of the North Coast, uncertainty emanates from a fan base that certainly has undergone its fair share of change in recent months. On the brink of re-branding, the organization as the Cleveland Guardians hopes of creating positive momentum off and on the field will be at the forefront of the thoughts of the front office. Generating expectancy and excitement is part of the game, but it is essential in this case with anticipation of connecting with a fan base that has been (in some ways) isolated. Earlier this year Chris Antonetti alluded to capturing the attention of the fan base in an interview with Jayson Stark, and that’s just what I believe the club will attempt to do.

Offseason predictions

Players with options

3B Jose Ramirez ($11 million team option)
Ramirez gets his option picked up and gets an extension with an additional five years of control with a mutual option for a sixth year (eight total). Terms of the deal: 5 years at $175 million, including a $5 million buyout and an additional $20 million ($10M per year) added to his salaries for 2022 and 2023.

Okay, this is bold and may not happen but there is hope and motive to get something done.

C Roberto Perez ($7.5 million team option; $500,000 buyout)
Has his option declined and the club attempts to re-sign the veteran backstop to an incentive-laden deal with a similar potential payout.

The Defenders of the North Coast acquire a controllable reliever like David Bednar for example to fortify the arm barn. • Lol, I was just adding him back and correcting a spelling error when you sent that. I believe he is added or traded.
