ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE (AFL) – SCOTTSDALE SCORPIONS
Richie Palacios (CF): 2-5, 2 R, 1 3B, 1 BB, 2 K – Palacios’ mini-slump unsurprisingly lasted all of one game. Palacios is looking like a must-protect in the Rule 5 Draft, whenever that happens, as this autumnal brilliance is likely to get more than one team’s attention.
Michael Amditis (DH): 1-5, 1 R, 3 K – Despite a rough fall at the plate (.120/.185/.120), Amditis has scored three runs in seven games.
Aaron Pinto (RP): W (1-1), 1,1 IP, 2 H – As I said regarding Tanner Tully in yesterday’s column, this is hopefully the beginning of Pinto acclimating to the AFL level of competition.
Matt Turner (RP): 2 IP, perfect, 1 K – Turner built on last Saturday’s solid inning with a pair of perfect frames yesterday. He really seems to be making the most of this rehab opportunity. He will be someone to watch in Goodyear in the spring.
DOMINICAN WINTER LEAGUE (LIDOM)
Oscar Gonzalez (Estrellas, DH): 1-4, 2 K – While he wasn’t the offensive “star” of the game (pun intended) for the the eastern nine, Gonzalez did make it a hitting streak to start the season with his eighth-inning single.
VENEZUELAN LEAGUE (LVBP)
NAVEGANTES DEL MAGALLANES 4, TIBURONES DE LA GUAIRA 3
Brayan Rocchio (La Guaira, SS): 1-5, 1 R, 1 3B – Rocchio also makes it back-to-back games with a hit to start the season as he posts a stat line nearly identical to Gonzalez’s Opening Day effort from Wednesday.
