HIGHLIGHTS

Steven Kwan (Columbus, CF): 2-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI – Kwan continues to mash at the Triple-A level.  His multi-hit effort was the Clippers’ only one on Thursday night and included a colossal blast into the netting in front of the right field balcony (Huntington Park has netting everywhere, even in front of the bleachers. Steven is slashing .302/.385/.510 with nine extra-base hits (three doubles, a triple, and five home runs) while scoring 22 runs and driving in 13 in his first month at the pinnacle of the minors (24 games played).  His fielding was also stellar last night as he had an outfield assist on a play at the plate and was close to one on multiple other occasions.

BEST OF THE REST

Gabriel Arias (Columbus, SS): 1-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 E – Arias’ lone hit of the game was a prodigious solo shot to left center for his 13th homer and 55th RBI of the season.  In the field, however, he committed his 14th error of the 2021 campaign by attempting a flashy barehand catch of an otherwise routine grounder.

Angel Genao (DSL Blue, SS): 1-2, 1 R, 3 BB, 1 SB – Genao’s three-walk Thursday continues a September of stellar plate discipline (10:19 K:BB ratio and .207 isolated plate discipline).

Manuel Mejias (DSL Blue, C): 1-5, 2 RBI – Mejias went hitless most of the game, but came up massively clutch in the bottom of the ninth with a game-winning two-run single.

Lexer Saduy (DSL Blue, CF-RF): 2-3, 1 R, 1 BB – Not only does Saduy have a 15-game on-base streak, he also has multiple total bases in each of his last four games (combined 7-for-15, 3 R, 3 2B, 1 RBI, 4 BB, 3 K).

Erickson Sarita (DSL Blue, LF): 2-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K – Sarita drove in the other two Indians Blue runs, including one on a seventh-inning homer, the first of his professional career.

Luis Perez (DSL Blue, RF-1B): 3-4, 1 R – Perez’s batting average jumped 26 points (.254 to .280) as he broke out of his 4-for-21 September slump with this three-hit effort.

Diego Navarro (DSL Blue, SP): ND, 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R (earned), 1 BB, 3 K, 1 HBP – Navarro’s rookie season was a stellar one.  The likely final statline: 1.69 ERA, 0.79 WHIP, 44:8 K:BB ratio in 48 innings, and .184 opponents’ batting average.

Fran Alduey (DSL Red, DH): 3-5, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K – Alduey provided the majority of the Indians Red scoring and nearly half the hits (three of seven).

Jhoan Gomez (DSL Red, 2B): 2-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 E – Gomez provided the other run on a second-inning homer.
