DSL – Indians Red 2, Pirates Black 6 (F/7)

Highlights

Frederic Garcia (Blue, RP): 3 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K – Garcia joined the game in relief in the seventh with Blue down seven and gave up a hit, but struck out three other three batters. He gave up a walk and single in the next inning, but used a strike out and double play to end the inning without score.

Angel Mendoza (Red, DH): 2/3, 2 R, 3B – Mendoza tripled to lead off the second and scored the team’s first run on a sac fly. He singled again in the fourth and again scored, this time on a ground out.

Best of the rest

Richard Polanco (Blue, 3B): 2/2, R, RBI – Polanco joined the game in the middle of the fifth when Manuel Mejias (C) was removed for injury. To make this work, the first baseman moved behind the plate, third baseman moved to first and Polanco took third. He singled in his first at bat, but was out on the ensuing double play. He then singled home a run in the eighth and scored on the double that followed.

Lexar Saduy (Blue, RF): 2/4, 2B – Saduy doubled to lead off the fifth for his first hit, then was stranded at third. He singled again in the seventh, but was stranded at second after a wild pitch.

Erick Caripa (Blue, DH): 1/4, 2B, R, 2 RBI – Caripa had just one hit yesterday, but it was a big one. Down six in the eighth, he doubled home two runs and scored on a single after a wild pitch. This would be team Blue’s final run.

Fran Alduay (Red, SS): 2/4, 2B – Alduay singled to lead off the game, but was stranded. Much later, he doubled with two outs in the seventh, but it was too little too late as team Red lost 6-2.

Kevin Rivas (Red, 3B): 2/2 – Rivas singled in the fourth to advance Mendoza, but was himself stranded at third. He then singled in the sixth, but was out trying to go from first to third on another single.

Simon Rodriguez (Red, LF): 2/3 – Rodriguez singled to advance two runners in the fourth, but was stranded at second. He chased Rivas with a single again in the sixth, but the inning ended when Rivas was thrown out.
