HIGHLIGHTS
Steven Kwan (Akron, CF): 2-5, 2 R, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 K – Kwan came back from a hitless Tuesday with his sixth multi-hit game in nine played this month. He is slashing .351/.415/.595 in August and .331/.394/.540 in 36 overall games this season.
Jerson Ramirez (Lake County, RP): S (7), 1 IP, perfect, 3 K – Ramirez was unflappable as usual en route to his 13th save of the season (including six for the Hillcats), even when he was interrupted by a skunk running on the field with the West Michigan side down to their last two strikes.
Richard Paz (ACL, C): 3-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI – Paz’s first full season stateside has been nothing short of spectacular. In 14 games, including an active 13-game hitting streak, Paz is slashing .478/.552/.870 with three doubles, five home runs, 15 RBI, and a 3:7 K:BB ratio.
BEST OF THE REST

Marcos Gonzalez (Akron, 1B): 3-4, 2 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 CS – Gonzalez’s six total bases was impressive, but wasn’t even his high for the month (seven on August 1 in Erie).
Juan Hillman (Akron, SP): W (10-2), 5 IP, 5 H, 2 BB, 6 K, 1 WP – Hillman has pitched twelve shutout innings in two starts this month with a 12:2 K:BB ratio.
George Valera (Lake County, CF): 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 2 K – Valera’s 13th homer of the season and fifth of the month put the Captains back in front for good.
Jose Tena (Lake County, SS): 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K – Tena followed with his 12th round-tripper of the season to set the eventual final score (in the third inning – the lack of further scoring resulting in large part from the Captain lineup striking out 13 times in 18 plate appearances against the Whitecap bullpen).
Johnathan Rodriguez (Lynchburg, RF): 2-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI – Rodriguez has compiled four multi-total base games in three days (14 TB in the last 72 hours).
Andres Melendez (Lynchburg, DH): 2-3, 2 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB – Melendez, who extended his hitting streak to five games last night, has also been piling up the total bases (11 in his last two games).
Junior Sanquintin (ACL, 1B): 2-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 2 RBI – Sanquintin is back over an RBI-a-game pace (26 in 25 games) after driving in a pair last night.
