HIGHLIGHTS

Richard Paz (ACL, C): 2-3, 2 R, 2 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 PB – Paz has dominated ACL pitching in his last three games played, going a combined 7-for-10 in three straight multi-hit games.  He has also hit three home runs during this stretch and driven in four runs while walking twice and not striking out.  The result is a three-game slash line of .700/.750/1.600.  Yes, it’s a small sample size, but the numbers are still spectacular.

Maick Collado (DSL Blue, DH): 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K – On a day when he extended his career-opening on-base streak to five games, Collado opened his professional home run account with a three-run shot in the fifth that accounted for a majority of the Indians Blue scoring in yesterday’s contest.

REHAB

Micah Pries (ACL, starting 1B): 1-3, 1 K, 1 E – Pries got a hit in a second straight game as he successfully continued his rehab assignment in Goodyear.

BEST OF THE REST

Isaiah Greene (ACL, CF): 0-1, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 Sac Bunt – Greene continues to be a paragon of plate discipline.  He not only extended his walk streak to six games, but also walked multiple times for the fourth straight game.  He has drawn a base on balls eleven times in 42 plate appearances this season, including at least once in eight of his nine games played this season.

Jorge Burgos (ACL, LF): 1-4 – Despite struggling recently (3-for-11 in his last four games), Burgos has kept his season-opening on-base streak, now at 12 games, going.

Diarlin Jimenez (ACL, RP): 2.1 IP, 1 BB, 4 K – Jimenez mercifully ended a fourth inning that had gone out of control due to Samuel Vasquez falling off the proverbial tightrope and followed that up with a pair of stellar innings.

Juan Mateo (ACL, RP): 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R (unearned) – Mateo allowed a single unearned run for the second straight outing.

Christopher Espinola (DSL Blue, LF): 0-3, 1 R, 2 BB, 2 K – Espinola, who stole his first professional base on Monday, has a good eye at the plate, walking five times in 18 plate appearances, compared to only three strikeouts.

Angel Genao (DSL Blue, 2B): 2-5, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 SB – Genao, who also stole his first base as a professional yesterday, has started his career on a hot streak (.300/.440/.450 with six RBI and a 2:5 K:BB ratio in five games).

David Leon (DSL Blue, C): 2-4, 1 K – Leon has started his pro career going 3-for-7 in his first two games.

Jesus Montilla (DSL Blue, SS): 2-3, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 HBP – Montilla reached base four times on Monday, increasing his career total to ten times in 13 plate appearances.

Albert Breton (DSL Blue, RP): 1 IP, 1 HBP, 1 WP – Breton’s control issues continued to haunt him (he has a season-opening three-game hit batter streak – here’s the game logs to prove that I’m not making this up), but he provided a much-needed highlight for the Blue squad’s pitching staff with his first scoreless outing of his sophomore season in the DSL.

Fran Alduey (DSL Red, SS): 2-5, 3 K, Picked Off 1 time – Alduey had the only multi-hit effort in a game in which both teams combined for seven runs with NONE if them driven (If you’re reading this in a hurry and don’t have time to check the boxscore, the runs scored on five wild pitches [there were eight total during the game] and two errors).

Carlos Gutierrez (DSL Red, LF): 0-3, 2 BB – Gutierrez has a .429 OPS despite going hitless in all three of his professional games so far thanks to great plate discipline (five walks in 14 plate appearances).

Pedro Almanzar (DSL Red, RP): 2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB – Almanzar followed up a pro debut marred by one bad pitch that left the yard with a pair of scoreless innings on Monday.

Alexandro Castro (DSL Red, RP): 1 IP, 2 BB – Despite some control issues, Castro pitched a scoreless no-hit inning for the second straight outing.
