Will Brennan (Lake County, CF): 1-5, 1 R, 3 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 CS – Brennan continued his impressive season on Friday night, extending his on-base streak to 15 full games played (excluding a substitute appearance where he only came to the plate once) and driving in three runs to get to 29 on the season.
Bryan Lavastida (Lake County, C): 1-3, 1 R, 1 2B, 3 RBI, 2 BB, 2 K – Lavastida’s three RBI game brings his total for the series to five in 13 plate appearances in three games. His second and third RBI came on an eighth-inning double that completed the Captains comeback from a 7-1 deficit through six innings and gave them a 9-8 lead.
Petey Halpin (Lynchburg, LF): 2-4, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 K = Halpin rebounded from an 0-for-4 Thursday to accumulate multiple total bases for the sixth time in his last eight games.
Joe Naranjo (Lake County, 1B): 4–5, 4 R, 1 RBI – Despite his 0-for-4 Thursday, Naranjo’s numbers over the last three days are still impressive thanks to this effort and a similarly stellar Wednesday (combined 6-for-15 with six runs scored, six driven in, a double, and a triple).
Cody Farhat (Lake County, LF): 3-4, 3 R, 2 2B, 1 RBI, 1 HBP – Sometimes there’s an adjustment period when a player is promoted. Sometimes a player takes to the higher level immediately, Then there’s this. While it is possible that Farhat got his High-A struggles out of the way with the 2019 Hillcats (.175/.243/.206 in 21 games), but this effort is still extremely impressive for a guy who had played the entire season-to-date at a lower level and was just promoted to a level he hadn’t played at in two years.
Jordan Luplow (DH): 0-0, 2 R, 2 BB – Luplow walked in both of his plate appearances before high winds halted the game and scored two of the A-Tribe’s three runs so far. Even if he is still rehabbing in the ACL when the game is resumed, that will be a whole different outing in terms of his rehab process, despite what the boxscore might say.
Jhonkensy Noel (3B): 0-1, 1 HBP – Noel got on base for a third straight game, although not in the manner he would have preferred.
Yu Chang (Columbus, 2B): 2-3, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 CS – Chang has multiple total bases in each of his last four games and five of his last six.
Owen Miller (Columbus, 1B): 2-3, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 SF – Miller’s on-base streak now stands at eight games going back to Independence Day in Toledo.
Ryan Lavarnway (Columbus, C): 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K – Lavarnway’s two-run homer in the fifth increased his season RBI total to 28 in 32 Triple-A games this season.
Connor Marabell (Columbus, LF): 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K – Marabell came to the plate next and hit a solo shot for his 25th RNI of 2021 (48 games).
Kevin Herget (Columbus, RP): W (4-3), 1 H, 7 K – Herget has thrown a full game’s worth of shutout baseball in the past eight days (combined 9 IP, 4 H, 1 BB, 12 K between last night and last Friday).
Andruw Monasterio (Akron, 3B): 2-5, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI – Monasterio is 6-for-19 (.316) with at least one hit in each of the four games he has played this week in Harrisburg.
Steven Kwan (Akron, RF): 1-5, 1 R, 1 K – Kwan extended his on-base streak to eleven games (last failed to get on base July 27. Vs. Erie) and his hitting streak to eight.
Richie Palacios (Akron, LF): 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 SB, 1 E – Palacios has been dominant this week, 9-for-18 (.500) with four doubles and two homers (.333 ISO) while scoring seven runs and driving in nine in four games played in Central Pennsylvania. In other words, Richie Palacios doing Richie Palacios things.
Jonathan Engelmann (Akron, 1B): 2-3, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 BB – Engelmann has reached double digits in doubles (five each for the RubberDucks and Captains) in 40 games, equaling his 2019 total in 53 games for the Captains and Scrappers).
Daniel Schneemann (Akron, SS): 2-3, 1 R, 1 BB – Schneemann has back-to-back multi-hit games for the third time this season (including three in a row from July -3 vs. Bowie).
Victor Nova (Lake County, 3B): 2-4, 1 R, 1 3B, 2 RBI, 1 BB – Nova drove in his 24th and 25th runs of the 2021 campaign on Friday night.
Nick Gallagher (Lake County, RP): W (1-3), 3.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R (earned), 2 K, 1 HBP, 1 HR allowed – Gallagher picked up his first individual victory of the season in his longest outing of the year.
Kevin Kelly (Lake County, RP): S (6), 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R (earned), 1 BB, 3 K, 1 HR allowed – Both of Kelly’s saves in July have required more than three outs.
Christian Cairo (Lynchburg, 2B): 1-2, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 2 HBP – Cairo had his best night in a week in terms of getting on base. However, it came the very hard (and painful) way. In terms of his bat, Christian has been extremely feast-or-famine recently. In his last five games, he is 2-for-11 (.182), but those hits are a home run and a double, giving him a .364 ISO during this stretch
Yainer Diaz (Lynchburg, C): 1-3, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 SF – Diaz has driven in ten runs this month after back-to-back multi-RBI games (previous game was on Tuesday).
Yordys Valdes (Lynchburg, SS): 1-3, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 K, 1 SB – Valdes has stolen 11 bases in 14 attempts through his first 48 games of the 2021 campaign.
Andrew Misiaszek (Lynchburg, RP): H (4), 3 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 3 K – Misiaszek pitched three scoreless innings in a performance straight out of the Charles Nagy school of Proverbial Tightrope Walking.
Cade Smith (Lynchburg, RP): 1 IP, perfect, 2 K – Smith has pitched three perfect innings in two outings during this week’s series versus the F-Nats.
Erick Caripa (DSL Blue, RF): 2-4, 1 2B, 1 K – Caripa’s three career pro hits include a pair of doubles.
Maick Collado (DSL Blue, 3B): 1-2, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SF – Collado’s double was his first professional hit.
Jesus Montilla (DSL Blue, SS): 2-3 – Montilla has begun his pro career with a pair of two-hit games.
Luis Perez (DSL Blue, DH): 1-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K – Perez made his plate debut after playing one inning in the field as a defensive substitute on Thursday
Dielmon Urena (DSL Blue, SP): 3 IP, 3 H, 4 BB, 2 K, 1 E – Some control issues, but still a scoreless debut for Urena.
Dahan Batista (DSL Blue, RP): W (1-0), 3 IP, 2 K, 1 HBP – The hit batter is the only blemish on Batista’s stat line through five frames in two relief outings.
Luis Almonte (DSL Blue, RP): S (1), 1 IP, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 WP – the same is true of Almonte’s walk relative to his three innings pitched this season.
Junior Caminero (DSL Red, 3B): 2-4, 1 R, 1 SB – Caminero extended his career-opening hit streak to three games although the same cannot be said for his walk streak.
Maikol Flores (DSL Red, DH): 2-4, 1 R, 1 K, 2 SB – Flores stole his first two professional bases on Friday.
Jose Ruviera (DSL Red, SP): ND, 4 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 4 K – A stellar start for Ruviera in his first game for a full Indians affiliate (played his entire rookie season in 2019 for the Indians/Brewers co-op).
Adauri Vicente (DSL Red, RP): W (1-0), 2 IP, 2 BB, 2 K – Vicente pitched a pair of scoreless frames to start his pivotal third season in the Dominican summer circuit.
Felipito Santos (DSL Red, RP): S (1), 3 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 HBP – Santos has started his season with 5.2 shutout innings. Hopefully, this is a sign that he has put his rough 2019 with the co-op (0-10, 13.93 ERA, 2.84 WHIP, .371 opponents AVG, and 12:38 K:BB ratio) behind him.
Micael Ramirez (1B): 1-1, 1 RBI, 1 HBP – Ramirez extended his season-opening on-base streak to ten games with an RBI single that drove in Lulow for his first run of the game.
Luis Durango (RF): 1-1, 1 HR, 1 RBI – Durango’s second-inning solo shot to left was the non-rehab highlight of the game so far.
