Highlights

Micael Ramirez (ACL Indians, C): 4/5, 4 RBI, 2 2B – There was too much offense in the ACL Indians vs Reds game to give everyone a focus, but Ramirez had a particularly impressive afternoon. He started with an RBI single in the first, then added a double in the third. He singled again in the sixth, then hit another double, this one scoring two runs, in the eighth.

Cody Farhat (Lynchburg, CF, Game 1): 2/2, 2 R, 2 RBI, 2 HR – Farhat started the first game off poorly as he was hit by a pitch, but picked things up quickly. He homered to lead off the fourth and tie the game at 1 run apiece. Keeping things simple, he hit another solo home run in the sixth, although this time they were still down a run and the game ended that way.

Owen Miller (Columbus, 2B): 3/4, HR – We’re going to ignore the Clippers game as much as possible, but Miller provided all the runs and at least a little positivity. He singled in the first and the seventh, each time being stranded. Down by 11 in the 9th, Miller came up with two outs and hit a solo homer for the only Clippers run of the night, coming just a little bit short of the comeback.

Jon Engelmann (Akron, DH) – 1/2, 2 BB, R – Despite having just one RBI as a team, Akron won last night 3-2. Despite not being particularly involved, Engelmann was the top offensive performer. He singled in the fourth and was left stranded. In the sixth, he was the second of three consecutive walks, then scored on an Ike Freeman ground out. He then walked again in the eighth, but was stranded again, this time on third with the bases loaded.

Raynel Delgado (Lake County, 3B): 3/3, BB – Delgado first singled in the second, then again in the fourth and the eighth with a walk in the seventh. Despite the Captains scoring four and Delgado reaching base four times, he wasn’t involved in the scoring.

Victor Nova (Lake County, LF): 2/4, HR, 3 RBI – Nova singled in the seventh to reach for the first time in the game, but was caught stealing. In the next inning, Nova’s three run homer provided nearly all of the Captains offense for the night. This was his fifth homer of the year and 21st RBI.

Gabriel Rodriguez (Lynchburg, 3B, Game 2): 1/3, 2 RBI, 2B – Rodriguez initially reached in the first on an error, but otherwise the entire Hillcats offense was essentially silent until the seventh. Then, Christian Cairo was hit by a pitch and Yainer Diaz reached on an error. With two outs, Rodriguez brought them both home with a double, the only two Hillcats runs of the night.
