Rookie – Arizona Complex League Indians 10, Arizona Complex League White Sox 8 HIGHLIGHTS (I.E. GUYS WHO WOULD’VE BEEN SELECTED FOR A MULTI-GAME ATF) Julian Escobedo (starting RF): 0-3, 1 […]
Julian Escobedo (starting RF): 0-3, 1 R, 1 BB, 3 K – Escobedo continues to struggle in his rehab assignment, as he remains hitless in eight at-bats with a pair of walks and five strikeouts in three games (the 5 Ks coming in as many at-bats in his last two games – other game was on Saturday vs. the Reds at the Indians complex).
Dayan Frias (3B): 2-3, 2 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 1 E – Frias’ home run was his first as a professional and first stateside extra-base hit (He hit four doubles and three triples as a member of the 2019 Dominican Summer League Indians.).
Micael Ramirez [C]: 1-3, 1 R, 1 2B, 3 RBI, 1 SF, 1 PB – Ramirez is looking like a guy who has done this a couple of times before (since he has – spending the 2018 [Indians 2] and 2019 [Indians Red] seasons in the then not-as-”Complex” Arizona League), especially in the RBI department, driving in five runs in four games.
Carson Tucker (SS): 2-3, 2 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SB, 1 CS, Picked Off 1 time – Tucker hit a home run in the fourth inning for his first professional hit and followed it up with an RBI single three innings later. Hopefully, this is the start of his bat getting hot as he continues to adapt to the professional game.
Milan Tolentino (2B): 2-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K – Tolentino doubled both his career hit and home run totals, which now stand at four and two respectively (other two are singles).
Jacob Forrester (RP): S (1). 1 IP, perfect, 2 K – Forrester’s first scoreless outing of the season was the highlight of the Arizona Tribe’s day on the mound and earned him his first professional save.
Isaiah Greene (DH): 1-4, 2 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K – Greene drove in his fourth professional run on his first pro homer.
Jorge Burgos (backup RF): 1-1, 1 CS, 1 E – Burgos extended his season-opening hit streak to three games in his only plate appearance after replacing Escobedo upon the completion of his rehab appearance.
Junior Sanquintin (1B): 1-3, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB – Sanquintin has hit the ground running in his American debut season, scoring seven runs in his first four games stateside.
Jordan Brown (LF); 0-4, 2 K – Brown drops to 1-for-12 on the season (although that hit was a home run) after being the only Indian to fail to reach base last night in Goodyear.
Luis Durango (CF): 0-3, 1 K, 1 HBP – Durango avoided being the other A-Triber to not reach base, but probably wishes he hadn’t.
Samuel Vasquez (SP): ND 4 IP, 4 H, 3 R (all earned), 2 BB, 3 K – While this performance lowered his season ERA from 108.00 to 14.54, this kind of start to the season from a returnee to Arizona-based Rookie ball does make him vulnerable to being cut to make room for draftees under MiLB’s new 180-man organizational roster limit (DSL teams exempt).
Steven Perez (RP): W (1-0), 3.1 IP, 1 H, 5 R (3 earned), 3 BB, 2 K, 1 H allowed, 1 HBP – Perez’s stateside debut was unremarkable, but he got the individual victory by pitching the half-inning before the Indians took the lead for good.
Juan Mateo (RP): H (1), 0.2 IP, 1 H, 1 HBP – Mateo has pitched a pair of solid 0.2-inning outings to start his career and already has a win and a hold to show for it.
