Higlights

Oscar Gonzalez (RF, Akron): 4-6, HR, 4 RBI – Gonzalez had three singles but then connected on the big blow of Akron’s marathon night with a grand slam that capped off an eight run 12th inning.

Tyler Freeman (SS, Akron): 4-7, 2B, HR, 3 RBI – Freeman clobbered his second homer of the season in a big offensive night for Akron.

Andres Gimenez (DH, Columbus): 3-5, HR, 3 RBI – Yes, that’s ANOTHER homer by Gimenez. His SIXTH straight game this week with a homer. Hard to know what is happening with Triple-A pitching or the ball, but he’s sure on a nice run.

Richie Palacios (2B, Akron): 3-5, HR, 2 RBI, 2BB – Palacios’ two-run homer in the 11th gave Akron a 9-7 that the bullpen didn’t hold onto, but that was a common theme in this one. Nonetheless it was another good night for Richie.

Trenton Brooks (1B, Columbus): 3-5, HR, 2 RBI – Brooks hasn’t missed a beat since his promotion to Columbus with his third homer.

Yainer Diaz (C, Lynchburg): 3-4, 2B, 2 RBI, BB – Diaz continues to hit and drove his average over .300

Alexfri Planez (CF, Lynchburg): 2-5, 2 RBI – Planez went 8-18 this week with two homers, a double, and six RBI. His bat is starting to come alive.

Best of the rest

Bo Naylor (C, Akron): 3-7, 2B, 3 RBI – It has been a tough year so far for Naylor but he helped put Akron ahead in the 10th and again in the 12th.

Chris Roller (CF, Akron): 3-6, 2R, SB – Naylor drove in Roller in the ninth to give Akron the lead and again in the blowout 12th inning.

Jose Fermin (3B, Akron): 2-5, 2R, 2 RBI, BB – No shock Fermin was on base three times in his six plate appearances. His .361 OBP is impressive with 13 walks and just eight strikeouts.

Josh Rolette (1B, Akron): 2-7, HR, 2 RBI – Akron lost Trenton Brooks to a promotion and have been first base has been kind of a tough spot for them since so in a wild offensive night they were glad to get a contribution from Rolette there at the bottom of the other.

Oscar Mercado (CF, Columbus): 1-5, HR, 3 RBI – Mercado is about as hot as Gimenez in the month of June. There’s no where for Mercado to play in Cleveland right now but he’s just absolutely on fire.

Gabriel Arias (SS, Columbus): 2-4, 2R, 2RBI, BB – Arias’ last week has been really good and most notable, he walked in this one and didn’t strike out as his walk rate is climbing all the way up, which is a huge development for his game.

Nolan Jones (3B, Columbus): 1-3, BB, 2B, 3 R – Jones reached base three times and scored all three times, doubled and walked, but didn’t strike out. Like Arias, this continues to be a good trend for himl

Ben Krauth (RP, Columbus): 1.2IP, 3H, BB, K, W – Krauth’s first game of the season he reaps the benefit of Columbus’ offense and throws a scoreless 1.2 innings.

Angel Martinez (2B-SS, Lynchburg): 1-6, HR – Martinez notched his fourth homer of the year in the fourth inning.

Micah Pries (DH, Lynchburg): 2-4, R – It’s great to see Pries come back after his injury and just start hitting right away like he had before.

Lenny Torres Jr. (SP, Lynchburg): 4.1IP, 5H, 2ER, 2BB, 5K – This was a good line for Torres Jr. who continues to get better each time after missing 2019 with TJ and obviously 2020 like everyone else in the system.

Jaime Arias-Bautista (RP, Lynchburg): 3.2IP, 5H, 4K – Bautista has been a great multi inning reliever for the Hillcats this year and has eaten up some quality innings.

Daniel Schneemann (LF, Lake County): 1-2, HR – Schneemann had the only extra base hit for Lake County in a late night, short game.

Jared Janczak (RP, Lake County): 2IP, BB, 2 K – Janczak was the only Captains pitcher who didn’t allow a run and gave them a shot at a comeback in a short game.
