Will Brennan (Lake County, CF): 3-4, 2 2B, RBI, 2 R, SB – Brennan added his first three-hit game of the season and ninth multi-hit contest on Sunday in Fort Wayne. The outfielder added two more doubles to his name, putting him in a tie with league-high 15 doubles. 

Nolan Jones (Columbus, RF): 2-2, 2B, HR, RBI, BB, 2 R, HBP – With a double and a home run on Sunday, Jones ended the Iowa series with eight hits total. Six of those eight hits were doubles so he had seven extra-base hits total. 

Alex Royalty (Akron, SP): L, 6 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K – Royalty had his second six-inning start of the year on Sunday and turned in a solid start. The right-hander allowed a leadoff single and made a pickoff throwing error, allowing the runner to move to third base. The run scored on a sacrifice fly, the only blemish for Royalty. At one point, Royalty retired 12 straight batters before a leadoff single in the fifth inning.

Quentin Holmes (Lake County, RF): 2-5, 3B, RBI, R, 2 K, CS – Holmes has returned from his previous injury with a vengeance. In seven games since coming off the IL, he is hitting .526/.591/.789 with ten hits in 19 at-bats, five RBI, five runs scored and three stolen bases.

Best of the rest

Brayan Rocchio (Lake County, SS): 1-3, HR, 2 RBI, 2 BB, 2 R – The infielder launched his fifth homer of the season and second of the series on Sunday. He also walked twice (three times in the last two games) for eight total walks this season.

Nick Gallagher (Lake County, RP): 2.2 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 3 K – Gallagher notched his second straight scoreless outing of the season in 2.2 innings (second longest outing of 2021), despite allowing three hits. He scattered runners on the corners in the 3rd before departing after a two-out double in the 5th. 

Kevin Kelly (Lake County, RP): 1.1 IP, 2 K – Kelly fanned the final batter in the 5th, stranding Gallagher’s inherited runner. He worked around a throwing error by Rocchio in the 6th with a strikeout. He now has 27 strikeouts in 20 innings of work. 

Nic Enright (Lake County, RP): 1 IP, 2 H, 3 K – Enright turned in his seventh straight scoreless outing with a scoreless seventh inning. He gave up his first two hits of the month (fourth appearance) to leadoff the inning and came back to fan the next three batters. 

Andres Gimenez (Columbus, SS): 1-5, HR, RBI, R, 2 K – After going hitless in the last three games, Gimenez opened Sunday’s game with a solo home run in the first inning. 

Angel Lopez Alvarez (Columbus, C): 1-4, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 K – In his first playing time since May 30, Lopez lined a go-ahead, two-run double in the ninth inning. He now has two doubles in six at-bats this season.

Robert Broom (Columbus, RP): 1 IP, 1 H, 2 K – In five June outings, Broom has tallied 4.2 scoreless innings with two hits allowed and eight strikeouts. 

Danny Young (Columbus, RP): 2.1 IP, 5 K – Young struck out five of the seven batters he faced in a season-high 2.1 innings pitched. He fanned the final three batters he saw before making way for DJ Johnson. 

DJ Johnson (Columbus, RP): W, 1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 4 K, HBP – Johnson walked the tightrope in the ninth inning after two singles and a walk loaded the bases with two outs. He fanned his fourth batter of the contest to end the threat and give Columbus a 6-3 win. Johnson and Young combined to struck out nine batters (of 13 total strikeouts) in the final four innings. 

Alex Call (Akron, LF): 2-4, 2 1B, BB, SB – Call had hits in all six games of the series with Altoona, totaling 11 hits (four multi-hit games) and five walks. He was a perfect five-for-five in stolen bases over six games. 

Richie Palacios (Akron, CF): 1-4, 3B, 2 K – With his fifth extra-base hit of the series, Palacios created the lone scoring opportunity for the RubberDucks in the sixth. He tripled and Call followed with a walk and stolen base with two outs. Akron came up empty, falling 3-0.

Hosea Nelson (Lynchburg, LF): 2-3, 2 2B, R – Following a slow 2-for-20 start for Nelson after joining the team on June 5th, he doubled twice against Delmarva on Sunday. With four hits, he has three doubles in 23 at-bats. 

Cody Farhat (Lynchburg, CF): 2-4, 2 1B, RBI, 2 R, K, SB – Farhat had two singles, including a RBI single in a four-run second inning. 

Angel Martinez (Lynchburg, SS): 1-5, 3B, RBI – Martinez now has two triples in June and three for the season. 

Alexfri Planez (Lynchburg, RF): 1-2, 2B, 2 RBI, BB, K – Planez plated Nelson with a sacrifice fly in the 2nd inning before lining a RBI double in the eighth inning. He finished the series with four hits, two doubles and three RBI. 

Josh Wolf (Lynchburg, RP): 4 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 3 K – In a piggyback role, Wolf spun four scoreless innings. For the third time this year, he pitched a scoreless outing of four innings. The right-hander has eight scoreless innings in June with five hits, two walks and nine strikeouts.
