Top News

• Monday: The Colorado Rockies and general manager/executive vice president, Jeff Bridich mutually agreed to part ways. They will appoint an interim GM for the remainder of the season, and hire a full-time one once the season ends.

• Tuesday: The New York Yankees traded outfielder Mike Tauchman to the San Francisco Giants in exchange for lefty, Wandy Peralta. 

• Wednesday: The MLB and MLBPA began their first set of talks regarding a new bargaining agreement. Both sides have several months to work out an actual agreement, but there is a feeling around the league that there could be a potential work stoppage next season–which would be the first one since 1994. 

• Thursday: The St. Louis Cardinals placed righty Adam Wainwright and veteran lefty Andrew Miller on the IL. Wainwright was placed on the COVID-19 IL due to a family member testing positive. Miller was placed on the 10-day IL due to blister on his right foot. 

• Friday: Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Kole Calhoun underwent surgery on his left hamstring. He will miss the next six-to-eight weeks. 

• Saturday: The Chicago White Sox activated righty Lance Lynn from the IL. He missed the last two weeks due to a trapezius strain. 

• Sunday: Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert will be placed on the 10-day IL with a right hip flexor strain he suffered in yesterday’s loss against the Cleveland Indians. He will miss 12-16 weeks it was determined. 

Indians News

• Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reported that the Cleveland Indians have DFA’d veteran lefty, Oliver Perez. This move opens up a spot for the return of righty Nick Wittgren.

• Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com reports that the Cleveland Indians optioned lefty Logan Allen to Triple-A Columbus after his outing against the Minnesota Twins on Thursday,  where the Tribe lost 10-to-2. Sam Hentges will take his spot in the rotation initially.

• The Milwaukee Brewers placed righty Eric Yardley on the 10-day IL due to a right shoulder strain. 

• According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, several teams have shown interest in free agent righty, Shane Greene. 

• The Milwaukee Brewers acquired catcher Jacob Notthingham from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for cash considerations. This came less than 24 hours after the Mariners claimed Nottingham off of waivers. 

• David O’ Brien of The Athletic reports that the Atlanta Braves have selected the contract of veteran catcher Jeff Mathis, who is replacing fellow catcher Travis d’ Arnaud–who is currently on the 60-day IL with a left thumb injury. 

• The Oakland Athletics placed righty J.B. Wendelken on the IL with a strained let oblique. Righy Jordan Weems will take the open roster spot. 

• The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed righty Dustin May on the 10-day IL with a right arm injury he suffered on Saturday against the Milwaukee Brewers. 

• The Oakland Athletics placed lefty Jesus Luzardo on the IL with a fractured hand that he injured punching a table playing a video game. 

• Philadelphia Phillies lefty Jose Alvarado has been suspended three games by the MLB for his excessive celebration that led to the benches clearing against the New York Mets. He is appealing the suspension. 

• According to David O’ Brien of The Athletic, the Atlanta Braves plan to activate lefty Max Fried from the IL. He will likely start against the Washington Nationals on Wednesday. 

• Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports that Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story left the game on Sunday against the Arizona Diamondbacks after he was hit by a pitch on his right index finger. X-rays were negative. 

• According to Anne Rogers of MLB.com, the Kansas City Royals will move righty Jakob Junis to the bullpen, and promote lefty Daniel Lynch. He will have his first start tonight against the Cleveland Indians. 

• According to Gordon Wittenmeyer of NBC Sports Chicago, Chicago Cubs righty Pedro Strop has taken a personal leave of absence from the club, and has returned to the Dominican Republic.
