DOMINICAN WINTER LEAUE (LIDOM) PLAYOFFS – SERIE FINAL GAME 5 (BEST-OF-7)

AGUILAS CIBAENAS 9, GIGANTES DEL CIBAO 3 (GIGANTES LEAD SERIES 3-2)

FORMER INDIAN

Melky Cabrera (starting RF, Aguilas Cibaenas): 2-5, 1 R, 2 RBI – Cabrera tripled his Serie hit total after going 1-for-16 in the first four games. He also scored his first run since January 7 and drove in a run for the first time since the fourth of the month.

COLOMBIAN LEAGUE (LPB) PLAYOFFS – SERIE FINAL GAME 1 (BEST-OF-7)

VAQUEROS DE MONTERIA 4, CAIMANES DE BARRANQUILLA 3 (MONTERIA LEADS SERIES 1-0)

FORMER INDIANS

Audy Ciriaco (3B, Caimanes de Barranquilla): 1-4 – Ciriaco started his Serie Final with a single in Game 1.

Sandy Leon (C, Caimanes de Barranquiila): 0-4, 1 K – Leon’s championship series opener, however, was hitless.

MEXICAN PACIFIC LEAGUE (LMP) PLAYOFFS – SEMIFINALS GAME 4 (BEST-OF-7)

SULTANES DE MONTERREY 6, NARANJEROS DE HERMOSILLO 5 (SERIES TIED 2-2)

FORMER INDIAN

Jeff Johnson (RP, Sultanes de Monterrey): S (2 in Semifinals, 5 in Playoffs, 12 overall), 1 IP, 2 H – While it was not without drama, Johnson kept the Naranjeros off the scoreboard in the top of the ninth and evened the series at two games apiece.

TOMATEROS DE CULIACAN 1, YAQUIS DE OBREGON 0 (CULIACAN LEADS SERIES 3-1)

FORMER INDIAN

Jose Guadalupe Chavez (SS, Tomateros de Culiacan): 1-2, 2 Sac Bunts, 1 SB – Chavez’s productive evening both at the plate and on the basepaths helped bring the Tomateros within nine innings of the LMP Serie Final.

AUSTRALIAN BASEBALL LEAGUE (ABL)

BRISBANE BANDITS 3, PERTH HEAT 2 (8 INNINGS)

FORMER INDIANS

Andrew Campbell (starting DH, Brisbane Bandits): 0-3 – The “starting” is because Campbell was pinch-run for as the runner on 2nd to start the eight (Perth played a second game against the Adelaide Giants later in the day, so the game was only scheduled for seven). The pinch-runner, Liam Taylor, would go on to score the game-winning run.

Ryan Battaglia (RF, Brisbane Bandits): 1-3, 1 RBI – While Battaglia had a hit and an RBI, they did not come at the same time. He drove in the Bandits’ first run of the game on a fifth-inning groundout. Ryan was on base when the aforementioned winning run scored. No, he didn’t hit in the bottom of the eighth. He started the inning on first (ABL extra innings start with runners on first and second). [Long rant on extra-inning rules redacted]

MELBOURNE ACES 2, CANBERRA CAVALRY 0

FORMER INDIANS

Samad Taylor (CF, Canberra Cavalry): 0-4, 2 K – The 0-for-4 night ended a four-game hitting streak for Taylor.

Shawn Morimando (SP, Canberra Cavalry): L (1-1), 6 IP, 7 H, 2 R (both earned), 2 BB, 4 K, 1 HR allowed, 1 WP – A solid start for Morimando, but the tough-luck loss is inevitable when your team can’t score.
