AUSTRALIAN LEAGUE (ABL)

Canberra Cavalry 4, Melbourne Aces 11 F/8

FORMER INDIAN

Samad Taylor (2B, Canberra Cavalry) – 1-4, 1 R, 1 SO – Taylor led off the fourth with a ground ball single to second base and scored the game’s first run on a RBI-single by Donald Lutz.

PUERTO RICAN LEAGUE (LBPRC) SEMIFINALS – GAME 2 (BEST-OF-7)

Criollos de Caguas 2, RA12 0 (CAGUAS LEADS 2-0)

CURRENT INDIANS

Joab Gonzalez (2B, RA12) – 0-4, 3 SO – It was nothing doing for Gonzalez on Sunday as he was overmatched at the plate.

Angel Lopez Alvarez (C, RA12) – 1-4, 1 SO – Lopez tried to keep the rally going in the ninth with a two-out single to right field but it wasn’t enough.

FORMER INDIAN

Jonathan Laureano (1B, RA12) – 1-3, 1 SO – The first baseman singled with one out in the eighth and moved to scoring position on a single by Glenn Santiago but was erased as Roby Enriquez grounded into an inning-ending double play.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE (LVBP)

Cardenales de Lara 5, Leones del Caracas 3

FORMER INDIANS

Carlos Rivero (3B, Cardenales de Lara) – 2-4, 2 R, 1 BB – Rivero ignited Cardenales de Lara’s two-run eighth inning with a leadoff single. That led to a three-run go-ahead homer by Yojhan Quevedo.

Caribes de Anzoategui 2, Bravos de Margarita 0

CURRENT INDIAN

Andruw Monasterio (2B, Caribes de Anzoategui) – 1-2, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 SO – The second baseman laid down a sac bunt in the third and it paid off as the lead runner scored the game’s first run on a RBI-double by Rafael Ortega. Monasterio’s base hit set things up for Ortega to crank another RBI-double to pad the lead in the seventh.

FORMER INDIANS

Niuman Romero (3B, Caribes de Anzoategui) – 0-3, 1 BB, 1 SO – It was a rare hitless day for Romero.

Henry Martinez (RP, Caribes de Anzoategui) – 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R/ER, 0 BB, 2 SO – Martinez almost struck out the side in what was a near-perfect eighth inning.

DOMINICAN WINTER LEAGUE (LIDOM) SEMIFINALS – GAME 2 (BEST-OF-7)

Aguilas Cibaenas 1, Toros del Este 2 (TOROS LEADS 2-0)

FORMER INDIANS

Melky Cabrera (LF, Aguilas Cibaenas) – 1-4, 1 RBI – The veteran broke the deadlock in the eighth with an RBI-single to right field.

Robel García (2B, Aguilas Cibaenas) – 1-4, 1 SO – García’s lone hit came in the second inning with two outs but he got stranded at first.

Yasiel Puig (DH, Toros del Este) – 0-3, 1 SO – It wasn’t Puig’s day. He ended up getting thrown out of the game in the eighth frame forcing Jordany Valdespin to take his place.

Abraham Almonte (CF, Toros del Este) – 0-3, 1 BB, 1 SO – Almonte was intentionally walked in the eighth paving the way for the bases to be loaded and Miguel Andjuar drove in the tying run on a sac fly.

Jairo Ascencio (RP, Toros del Este) – 1.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R/ER, 0 BB, 1 SO – Ascencio couldn’t hold the tie and allowed Aguilas Cibaenas to take the lead in the eighth. Thankfully his team picked him up scoring two runs in the bottom half letting him off the hook.

MEXICAN PACIFIC LEAGUE (LMP) QUARTERFINALS – GAME 2 (BEST-OF-SEVEN)

Aguilas de Mexicali 3, Sultanes de Monterrey 4 (MONTERREY LEADS 2-0)

FORMER INDIAN

Michael Choice (RF, Aguilas de Mexicali) – 2-4 – Choice had two hits but they were just singles. His team needed a classic Choice extra-base hit to get over the hump on Sunday.

Jeff Johnson (RP, Sultanes de Monterrey) – 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R/ER, 0 BB, 1 SO – Johnson tossed a clean ninth frame to slam the door and give Sultanes de Monterrey a 2-0 lead in the series.

Tomateros de Culiacan 5, Algodoneros de Guasave 1 (CULIACAN LEADS 2-0)

FORMER INDIAN

Jose Guadalupe Chavez (SS, Tomateros de Culiacan) – 1-4 – Chavez’s lone base hit came in the seventh frame on a one-out single and advanced all the way to third but got stranded.
