Raymond Burgos (RP, Atenienses de Manati): 1 IP, 1 H – Burgos allowed his second hit of the season in his third outing (3 IP).

Audy Ciriaco (3B, Caimanes de Barranquilla): 2-5, 2 R, 2 RBI – With a pair of each on Saturday, Ciriaco has now scored 13 runs and driven in 14 this LPB season, having played in all 22 Caimanes games so far, starting 21 of them.

Daniel Aguilar (CF, Gigantes de Barranquilla): 1-4, 3 K – That Aguilar’s lone hit of the night was a single is not a surprise as twelve of his fourteen hits this season have been of the one-base variety (other two were doubles).

Ezequiel Carrera (PH-backup RF): 0-1, 1 BB – Carrera grounded out in the third as a pinch-hitter for starting RF Jorge Pena and later walked before being pinch-hit for himself by former Detroit Tiger prospect Anthony Pereira in the seventh.

Yohan Pino (SP, Navegantes del Magallanes): W (2-1), 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R (earned), 2 K – Pino seems to have turned his season around. He has allowed only one run in five innings in each of his last two starts after giving up three or more runs in 3.1 or less innings in each of his first three starts.

Anthony Vizcaya (RP, Navegantes del Magallanes): 0.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R (both earned), 1 BB – In his first fourteen games (14.2 IP), Vizcaya allowed three earned runs. He nearly doubled that in a third of a frame last night.

AGUILAS DEL ZULIA 4, CARDENALES DE LARA 3

FORMER INDIANS

Yonathan Mendoza (SS, Cardenales de Lara): 1-5, 1 R – Despite seeing his batting average drop below .300 (from .303 to .296, Mendoza extended his on-base streak to eight games.

Carlos Rivero (3B, Cardenales de Lara): 3-4, 3 RBI, 1 BB – Rivero drove in all three Cardenales runs to increase his season total to 18 in twenty games.

Elvis Araujo (SP. Aguilas del Zulia) ND, 4 IP, 4 H, 1 R (earned), 3 BB (1 intentional), 2 K, 1 HBP – Araujo’s control problems (13 of his 14 walks this season in his last four starts [14.2 IP]), continue to haunt him, although he did a good job of minimizing the damage.

Juan Apodaca (C, Tiburones de La Guaira): 2-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 3 RBI, 1 HBP – Apodaca was one of only two Tiburones to play the entire game as the top seven hitters in the lineup were all replaced due to their colossal lead. The result was Juan’s first multi-hit game of the season (ten played).

MEXICAN PACIFIC LEAGUE (LMP)

Jose Guadalupe Chavez (SS, Tomateros de Culiacan): 1-4, 1 2B, 1 K – Chavez has reached base in each of his last nine games and is slashing .338/.403/.446 in forty games this season.

JC Ramirez (SP, Tomateros de Culiacan): W (4-2), 7 IP, 4 H, 2 R (earned), 1 BB, 5 K, 1 WP – Ramirez continued his streak of getting the decision in every start this season with this solid effort.

Samad Taylor (2B, Canberra Cavalry): 0-2, 1 BB – Taylor, who was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays at the 2017 trade deadline as part of the Joe Smith deal, became the first former Indian to play in Australia this season in the Boxing Day contest.
