Indios de Mayaguez 2, Atenienses de Manati 12

Saul Rivera (RP, Indios de Mayaguez) – 0.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R/ER, 1 BB, 0 SO – Rivera was summoned in the eighth inning as Alex Claudio was struggling. The righty came in with runners at first and second and one out. Juan Centeno driled the first pitch he threw for a three-run home run to make it an eight-run frame for Atenienses de Manati.
CURRENT INDIANS
Joab Gonzalez (SS, RA12) – 0-4, 2 SO – The raw prospect Gonzalez continues to unsuccessfully search for answers at the dish.
Angel Lopez Alvarez (DH, RA12) – 0-3, 1 BB, 3 SO – The designated hitter was one of the few RA12 players whom actually managed to get on base on Sunday.

Yonathan Mendoza (SS, Cardenales de Lara) – 1-3, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB – The shortstop worked a walk in the third inning to set up a bases-loaded situation. Gorkys Hernandez cashed in with a three-run triple to break the game wide open.
Carlos Rivero (3B, Cardenales de Lara) – 2-3, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI – Rivero set the tone for a big offensive day with a solo home run to left-center field in second inning.
Bravos de Margarita 9, Caribes de Anzoategui 4

Niuman Romero (3B, Caribes de Anzoategui) – 1-3, 1 R, 1 BB – Romero led off the fourth inning with a single and scored the first run for Caribes de Anzoategui on a RBI-single by Luis Sardinas. He then walked to load the bases in the fifth frame which allowed Oswaldo Arcia to work a bases-loaded walk and bring the game to within one run.
Henry Martinez (RP, Caribes de Anzotegui) – The righty got to work the eighth inning. A two-out walk to Dennis Ortega was his only blip.
Aguilas del Zulia 3, Tiburones de La Guaira 2 F/10

Elvis Araujo (SP, Aguilas del Zulia) – 4.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R/1 ER, 6 BB, 3 SO – The lefty did not have his best command on Sunday. Despite a high amount of walks he had only surrendered one run before getting tossed in the fifth inning after walking Heiker Moneses.
Juan Apodaca (C, Tiburones de La Guaira) – 1-3, 1 BB, 1 SO – The catcher’s one-out single in the sixth helped lead to a bases-loaded at-bat for Heiker Meneses to try and break the game open but he ended up striking out swinging
DOMINICAN LEAGUE (LIDOM)
Tigres del Licey 2, Aguilas Cibaenas 3 F/8 – Game 1

Sandy León (C, Tigres del Licey – Game 1) – 0-3, 1 SO – León went hitless but Tigres del Licey as a team managed just three htis all game.
Melky Cabrera (LF, Aguilas Cibaenas – Game 1) – 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI – The veteran delivered the game-tying hit in the eighth inning after Tigres del Licey just took a one-run lead in the top half of the frame.
Robel García (2B, Aguilas Cibaenas – Game 1) – 0-3, 2 SO – García had a quiet day in the first game on Sunday.
Tigres del Licey 5, Aguilas Cibaenas 1 – Game 2

Jean Carlos Mejia (SP, Tigres del Licey – Game 2) – 3.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R/0 ER, 0 BB, 4 SO – Mejia was solid through the first two inning. A fielding error put a runner on first with out in the third frame and he couldn’t work around it as he surrendered consecutive singles to see the early lead by Tigres del Licey slip away.

Melky Cabrera (LF, Aguilas Cibaenas – Game 2) – 1-4, 1 SO – Cabrera singled the runner to to third base after the fielding error to put him in scoring position.
Robel García (2B, Aguilas Cibaenas – Game 2) – 1-3, 1 SO – The second baseman’s lone hit of the day came on a two-out single in the second frame.
Gigantes del Cibao 3, Estrellas Orientales 2 – Game 1

Francisco Mejia (DH, Estrellas Orientales – Game 1) – 0-2 – Mejia continues to be a in a funk offensively.
Gigantes del Cibao 4, Estrellas Orientales 7 – Game 2
Francisco Mejia (PH-C, Estrellas Orientales – Game 2) – 0-1 – Mejia came off the bench to pinch-hit for Rodolfo Duran with runners at second and third and one out in the fifth frame. He ended up flying out to center field.
Toros del Este 8, Leones del Escogido 4 F/11

Anthony Gose (RP, Toros del Este) – 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R/ER, 1 BB, 0 SO – The southpaw was handed the ball for the fifth inning. Gose worked around a one-out walk to toss a scoreless frame.

Ivan Castillo (2B, Leones del Escogido) – 0-4, 1 R, 2 SO – Castillo led off the eighth by getting hit by a pitch and then came around to score the tying run on a RBI-double by Franchy Cordero.
Yasiel Puig (RF, Toros del Este) – 1-4, 2 SO – Puig kickstarted the two-out rally as he kept Toros del Este’s hopes alive with a two-out single in the ninth. He was lifted for pinch-runner Vidal Brujan whom crossed home plate as the tying run on a RBI-single by Christian Adames.
Abraham Almonte (PH-CF, Toros del Este) – 1-2, 1 RBI, 1 SO – Almonte was called to pinch-hit for Raudy Reed in the tenth frame. He would then bring home a run on a single to center field to extend Toros del Este’s lead to four runs in the eleventh inning.

Jose Guadalupe Chavez (SS, Tomateros de Culiacan) – 1-3, 1 BB – After Tomateros de Culiacan scored its first run of the game in the third inning Chavez singled then moved to second on a walk to set the team up for a big frame. He ended up getting stranded as Joey Meneses flew out to right field.
