NOTE: The Dominican Winter League (LIDOM) was off on Thursday and no current or former Indians played in the Australian Baseball League (ABL).

PUERTO RICAN LEAGUE (LBPRC)

ATENIENSES DE MANATI 6, RA12 3

CURRENT INDIANS

Joab Gonzalez (SS, RA12): 0-4, 1 BB, 1 K – Gonzalez continues to struggle in the Puerto Rican circuit as he is hitting .150 through his first six games and is yet to record an extra-base hit. Unfortunately, the truncated season in the Clemente League will not afford him much of a chance to get up to speed before the regular season ends and, with it, the campaign of the winless prospect squad. The good news, however, is that he is getting work in against much more experienced opposition.

Johnathan Rodriguez (RF, Atenienses de Manati): 1-5, 2 K – A relatively quiet night for Rodriguez, who entered Thursday slashing .269/.345/.346 with a pair each of doubles and RBI in seven games played this season.

FORMER INDIAN

Jonathan Laureano (LF, RA12): 1-4, 1 2B, 1 K – Laureano’s sixth-inning double was one of only two extra-base hits for RA12 yesterday.

CRIOLLOS DE CAGUAS 8, INDIOS DE MAYAGUEZ 1

FORMER INDIAN

Giovanni Soto (Criollos de Caguas, RP): W (2-0), 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R (earned), 1 BB, 2 K, 1 WP – While Soto has started one game this season, both of his individual victories have come in two-inning relief efforts. This one did not go quite as smoothly as his perfect outing nine days earlier, but the result was still the same.

COLOMBIAN LEAGUE (LPB)

TIGRES DE CARTAGENA 10, GIGANTES DE BARRANQUILLA 3

CURRENT INDIANS

Daniel Aguilar (backup CF, Gigantes de Barranquilla): 0-2 – Aguilar stranded a pair in as many at-bats on Thursday afternoon. His slash line now stands at .178/.229/.222 in twelve games (ten starts).

Gaspar Palacio (2B, Tigres de Cartagena): 0-3, 1 R, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 SB – While he also went hitless, Palacio had a far more successful night offensively. Such a statline might seem odd, but Gaspar has more walks (three) than hits (two) on the season and a .167 isolated plate discipline (compared to only a .133 batting average).

CAIMANES DE BARRANQUILLA 6. VAQUEROS DE MONTERIA 3

CURRENT INDIAN

Dayan Frias (PR, Vaqueros de Monteria): no plate appearances – Frias pinch-ran for Kansas City Royals C Meibrys Viloria with one out in the top of the ninth and was still stranded at first when the game ended.

FORMER INDIAN

Audy Ciriaco (1B, Caimanes de Barranquilla): 2-3, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 BB, 1 K – Ciriaco’s multiple-hit night included his second extra-base hit of the Colombian season (both doubles).

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE (LVBP)

NAVEGANTES DEL MAGALLANES 5, CARDENALES DE LARA 3

FORMER INDIANS

Carlos Rivero (3B, Cardenales de Lara): 0-3, 1 R, 1 BB – Rivero scored his eighth run of the season (in 13 games) despite going hitless thanks to a ninth-inning walk, driven in by…

Yonathan Mendoza (PH, Cardenales de Lara): 1-1, 1 RBI – Mendoza only did one thing in last evening;s game, but that thing was a one-out RBI single.

Yohan Pino (SP, Navegantes del Magallanes): W (1-1): 5 IP, 5 H, 1 R (earned), 3 K, 1 HR allowed – Pino came within one bad pitch of pitching five shutout frames and earned a well-deserved first individual victory of the Venezuelan season.

Anthony Vizcaya (RP, Navegantes del Magallanes): 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R (earned), 2 BB, 1 K – Vizacaya has allowed a run in each of his last two outings after not allowing any in his first nine games.

LEONES DEL CARACAS 3, CARIBES DE ANZOATEGUI 2

FORMER INDIAN

Niuman Romero (3B, Caribes de Anzoategui): 2-4, 2 R, 1 2B. 1 HR, 1 RBI – Romero;s multi-hit game was his seventh in 17 played during the current LVBP campaign. His slash line currently stands at .328/.431/.410 with six RBI and a 7:11 K:BB ratio. Surprisingly, other than an86-game stint with the Algonoderos de Union Laguna in 2019, he hasn’t played summer ball since 2016 in the New York Mets organization.

MEXICAN PACIFIC LEAGUE (LMP)

SULTANES DE MONTERREY 3, TOMATEROS DE CULIACAN 2

FORMER INDIANS

Jose Guadalupe Chavez (SS, Tomateros de Culiacan): 0-2, 1 BB – Despite the hitless night, Chavez is still hitting .336 in 33 games this season.

Jeff Johnson (RP, Sultanes de Monterrey): S (4), 1 IP, 1 perfect, 1 K – Johnson, who picked up his fourth save of the season with a perfect ninth that included a game-ending strikeout, has not allowed an earned run (and only one unearned run) in 16 innings in 14 games.

CHARROS DE JALISCO 6, ALGONODEROS DE GUASAVE 0

FORMER INDIAN

Brennan Bernardino (RP, Charros de Jalisco): 1 IP, perfect, 2 K – While it wasn’t in a save situation, Bernardino also pitched a perfect ninth to seal victory for his side,

VENADOS DE MAZATLAN 9, CANEROS DE LOS MOCHIS 2

FORMER INDIAN

Roman Pena (RP, Venados de Mazatlan): 2 IP, 1 H, 3 K – Pena pitched two nearly-perfect innings of middle relief last night.
