Johnathan Rodriguez (RF, Atenienses de Manati): 1-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 E – Rodriguez’s two-out double in the second drove in the Atenienses’ second run of the inning and the game, which would be all they needed to send Robbie Alomar’s developmental squad to 0-7 to start the season and give the Manati nine their victory of the season. The RBI was Rodriguez’s first in six games this winter.

Andruw Monasterio (PH, Caribes de Anazoategui): 1-1, 1 RBI – Monasterio’s sixth-inning RBI single tied the game at four runs each and ultimately sent it to extra innings. The at-bat was his only action of the evening and his first in four days.

Niuman Romero (3B. Caribes de Anzoategui): 2-3, 1 R – Romero led off the bottom of the first with a base hit and later scored. As you can see from the above score, that run held up for the win in a game that saw no further runs scored despite a combined 14 hits in only seven frames.
AGUILAS DEL ZULIA 8, LEONES DEL CARACAS 7 (GAME 1 – 9 INNINGS)
Elvis Araujo (SP, Aguilas del Zuila): ND, 3.2 IP, 7 H, 5 R (all earned), 2 BB, 2 K – After a solid start to the season (combined 9 IP, 7 H, 2 unearned runs, 1 BB, 5 K in his first two starts), Araujo has now followed a up a six run game (albeit four of them unearned) with a five-run outing (all earned). Carlos Rivero (3B, Cardenales de Lara): 1-3, 1 HBP – Despite not scoring in the nightcap, Rivero once again reached base twice (albeit in painful fashion on one occasion). While he is batting only .257, his .169 isolated plate discipline and .257 isolated power give him a .940 OPS.
Luis Oviedo (RP, Cardenales de Lara): W (1-0), 3 IP, 2 H, 1 K – Oviedo keeps his ERA unblemished (through 9,1 innings and six games) and picks up his first individual victory of the Venezuelan season thanks to starter Leonel Aponte only going three innings.

Yasiel Puig (starting RF, Toros del Este): – 0-2, 1 BB, 1 K – A relatively uneventful night for one of the major leagues’ most colorful free agents. Ignore the RBI listed in the linked boxscore. The scorer apparently gave him an RBI for a run that scored when he reached on an error in the fourth.
Paolo Espino SRP, Toros del Este): 6 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 1 K – Espino rebounded nicely from a pair of rough starts in which he allowed a combined seven earned runs on ten hits and two walks while striking out five in 10.2 innings.
