Castillo pinch hit for starting SS Jonathan Guzman and struck out in his only plate appearance to complete his second hitless day of the Dominican season.

MEXICAN PACIFIC LEAGUE (LMP)

SULTANES DE MONTERRREY 5, AGUILAS DE MEXICALI 4

FORMER INDIANS

Michael Choice (LF, Aguilas de Mexicali): 1-4, 1 R, 1 GR, 2 RBI, 1 K – Choice’s two-run homer in the second inning gave the Aguilas an early lead and accounted for half of the Mexicali scoring on the night. The home run was his fourth in 26 games this season and increased his RBI total to 13 and his ISO to .160.

Jeff Johnson (RP, Sultanes de Monterrey): 1 IP, 1 BB, 1 K – Johnson faced the minimum in the top of the ninth (He walked Mexicali 3B Alex Mejia, but he was caught stealing third.) and set his teammates up for their comeback in the bottom of the inning. Johnson has yet to allow an earned run (gave up an unearned one on Sunday) in five frames in as many outings.
