It was a quiet day in the Winter Leagues. Several former Indians saw game action but most of them had slow days. The IBI’s Daniel Sherriff takes you Around the Farm throughout the Winter Leagues.

Estrellas Orientales 2, Aguilas Cibaenas 1

Francisco Mejia (C, Estrellas Orientales) – 0-3, 1 SO – The former Indians’ top catching prospect has collected just one hit in his first seven at-bats.

Melky Cabrera (LF-RF, Aguilas Cibaenas) – 0-4, 1 SO – The veteran was shuffled over to left field late in the game after his club decided to make defensive adjustments. Cabrera went hitless for the first time this season.

Robel Garcia (2B, Aguilas Cibaenas) – 0-4, 3 SO – The second baseman is also off to a slow start. Garcia has only tallied one base hit albeit a big one as it was a home run throughout his first three games.

Ronny Rodriguez (3B-LF, Aguilas Cibaenas) – 1-4, 2 SO – Ronny-Rod has managed only two hits over his previous ten at-bats.

Gigantes del Cibao 1, Leones del Escogido 3

Jake Elmore (3B, Gigantes del Cibao) – 0-3 – The third baseman is still searching for his first hit of the Winter Leagues.

Venados de Mazatlan 10, Charros de Jalisco 12

Brennan Bernardino (RP, Charros de Jalisco) – 1.0 IP, 1 SV, 0 H, 0 R/ER, 0 BB, 0 SO – The lefty is now two-for-two in save opportunities. It was a much cleaner inning for him than his debut on Tuesday.

Naranjeros de Hermosillo 6, Tomateros de Culiacan 11

Jose Guadalupe Chavez (SS, Tomateros de Culiacan) – 2-3, 2 R, 2 H, 1 BB – The shortstop continues to sizzle in the Mexican League. Chavez is now batting a .425 average through 12 games.

Yaquis de Obregon 1, Aguilas de Mexicali 4

Michael Choice (LF, Aguilas de Mexicali) – 1-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SO – The left fielder provided a nice cushion for his team when he doubled home a run in the fifth inning to give Aguilas de Mexicali a three-run lead.
