  • Monday: The New York Mets resumed play against the Miami Marlins in a doubleheader. They hadn’t played since Thursday due to a coach and player testing positive for COVID-19. 
  • Tuesday: Tampa Bay Rays righty Yonny Chirinos underwent Tommy John surgery and will miss the remainder of the 2020 season, and likely the 2021 campaign. 
  • Wednesday: Multiple games were postponed due to the awful event that happened in Kenosha,Wisconsin with the shooting of Jacob Blake. The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants, the Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds, the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners all canceled their games.
  • Thursday: The Toronto Blue Jays acquired righty Taijuan Walker from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for PTBNL. 
  • Friday: New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge was placed back on the IL after suffering a calf strain against the Atlanta Braves. He was just activated off the IL on Tuesday. 
  • Saturday: The San Diego Padres acquired righty Trevor Rosenthal from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for outfielder prospect Edward Olivares and a PTBNL. 
  • Sunday: The Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres completed a sevenplayer trade. The Mariners acquired outfielder Taylor Trammell, infielder Ty France, catcher Luis Torres and righty Andres Munoz from the Padres in exchange for catcher/utilityman Austin Nola, righties Austin Adams and Dan Altavilla. This was only the beginning of big trades for San Diego. 
  • Monday 8/31: The Miami Marlins acquired outfielder Starling Marte from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for lefty Caleb Smith, righty Humberto Mejia and One-A lefty, Julio Frias.

Tribe News

  • The Cleveland Indians designated OF Domingo Santana for assignment 
  • In the biggest trade of the deadline, The Cleveland Indians traded righty Mike Clevinger and outfielder Greg Allen to the San Diego Padres in exchange for outfielder Josh Naylor, catcher Austin Hedges, righty Cal Quantrill, minor-league shortstop Gabriel Arias, lefty Joey Cantillo, and infielder, Owen Miller. Francisco Lindor was brought up in trade talks, but nothing got serious. 
  • Zach Plesac was recalled to make the start against Kansas City Royals on Tuesday. This move was made due to Mike Clevinger being traded to the San Diego Padres. 

News and Notes

  • Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the New York Mets have placed lefty Steven Matz and righty Dellin Betances on the 10-day IL. Matz is dealing with shoulder discomfort while Betances has right lat tightness. 
  • The San Diego Padres acquired veteran first baseman Mitch Moreland from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for infielder prospect Hudson Potts, and outfielder, Jeisson Rosario. 
  • According to Mark Bowman of MLB.com, the Atlanta Braves have acquired lefty Tommy Milone from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for two PTBNL. They are outside of the Braves 60-man player pool, so they are not currently known. 
  • Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Chicago Cubs acquired DH Jose Martinez from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for two PTBNL or cash considerations. 
  • The Houston Astros game against the Oakland Athletics was postponed on Sunday due to a positive COVID-19 test within the A’s organization.
  • According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Balimore Orioles traded righty Mychal Givens to the Colorado Rockies in exchange for infielder/outfielder Tyler Nevin, infielder prospect Terrin Vavra and a PTBNL. 
  • Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that Oakland Athletics shortstop Marcus Semien underwent an MRI after experiencing soreness on his left side against the Houston Astros. The MRI came back negative. 
  • Jon Heyman of the MLB Network reported the San Diego Padres acquired catcher Jason Castro from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for righty, Gerardo Reyes.
  • Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports that the Chicago Cubs have signed righty A.J. Ramos to a minor-league deal. 
  • Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reported that the Toronto Blue Jays have acquired lefty Robbie Ray from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for lefty Travis Bergen and $300K in cash. 
  • According to Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Texas Rangers acquired outfielder Marcus Smith and third baseman Dustin Harris from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for veteran lefty, Mike Minor. 
  • According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Chicago Cubs acquired lefty Andrew Chafin, and potential cash considerations from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for a PTBNL.
  • Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports that the Colorado Rockies acquired outfielder Kevin Pillar and cash from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for a PTBNL and 2019-20 international slot money. 
  • According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Toronto Blue Jays acquired infielder Jonathan Villar from the Miami Marlins in exchange for outfielder Griffin Conine.
  • Jon Heyman of the MLB Network reports that the Chicago Cubs acquired lefty Josh Osich from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for a PTBNL. 
  • Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported that the Cincinnati Reds acquired outfielder Brian Goodwin from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for lefty, Packy Naughton. and a PTBNL or cash considerations.
  • Jeff Passan of ESPN reported the Chicago Cubs acquired outfielder Cameron Maybin from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for infielder Zack Short. 
  • According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the New York Mets acquired catcher Robinson Chirinos and infielder Todd Frazier, his second stint with the club–from the Texas Rangers in exchange for two PTBNL and $360K in cash. 
  • Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that the New York Mets acquired righty Miguel Castro from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for lefty Kevin Smith and a PTBNL or cash considerations. 
  • The Cincinnati Reds have acquired closer Archie Bradley from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for utilityman Josh VanMeter, and outfield prospect, Stuart Fairchild. Arizona will also throw in $100K for Bradley’s remaining salary.
  • According to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca, the Toronto Blue Jays acquired righty Ross Stripling from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for two PTBNL. 
  • Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reported that the Tampa Bay Rays have traded lefty Anthony Blanda to the San Francisco Giants in exchange for cash considerations. 
  • AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports that the San Diego Padres have acquired righty Taylor Williams from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for a PTBNL. The Padres have been the busiest team of the trading deadline. 
  • According to Matt Gelb of The Athletic, the Philadelphia Phillies acquired righty David Phelps from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for righties Brandon Ramey, Isarael Puello and Juan Geraldo.
