A decade ago tonight in Nile, Ohio, Giovanny Urshela had an insane night at the plate. It started on the bottom of the first when the Scrappers third baseman hit a three-run homer to left field, scoring CF Carlos Moncrief and SS Kevin Fontanez, giving the Mahoning Valley side three runs from their first three plate appearances of the evening. He would return to the plate quickly thanks to the stellar first frame, walking to lead off the the third to keep his on-base percentage perfect on the night. He would go on to make it two-for-two in the run department as well, thanks to a throwing error on a two-out pick-off attempt by Aberdeen IronBirds (Baltimore Orioles) starter Tyler Sexton.

Urshela picked up his second extra-base hit of the game a pair of innings later on a two-out line-drive double to left. Designated hitter Jesus Aguilar would homer him in on a two-run shot to left that gave him his first professional multi-RBI game outside of complex-based ball. One frame later, Gio drove in his fourth run of the contest on a softly-hit RBI double to left, once again driving in Moncrief (Fontanez was also on base, advancing from first to second).

The lone blemish on this effort would come in the bottom of the bottom of the eight, when a 4-3 ground out represented the penultimate of the Scrappers’ 24 outs in this 9-6 victory. Gio’s stat line was as follows:

3-for-4, 3 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 1 BB, .750/.800/1.750 slash line for the night
