Today, Fangraphs introduced new 60 game leaderboards just for the weird 2020 season. I’m sure other people have looked through other leaderboards there and other sites to sift through who has had the best (and worst) 60 game stretches among current and former Cleveland Indians.
A 60-game season deserves the ability for you to search for a player's best or worst 60-game span. And lo and behold, look what new tool is on FanGraphs: a leaderboard of 60-game spans (12 games for pitchers), dating back to 1974. Neat, huh? https://t.co/C7yu5J61Vj
But since the great people at Fangraphs (please support them by being a subscriber, donate, or at least visit their site as they’ve struggled during the shutdown of baseball, too) gave us this tool to easily look at things in a 60 game lens, I added current members of the Tribe to a list to see who had the best and worst stretches in 60 games in their career (MLB only).
(I excluded anyone who made their debuts in 2019 because I didn’t want to include them with players who had full 60 game sample sizes over the course of multiple years to choose from. So you won’t see the likes of Oscar Mercado or Zach Plesac on the top lists, but I added the 2019 rookies to their own lists at the bottom of this post.)
So among Indians hitters who have played in the majors that you should expect to see in 2020, here are their best and worst stretches by list.
