The Lynchburg Hillcats annihilated the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 15-4.
The Hillcats pounded out 22 hits in the win with all nine hitters collecting at least one hit.
A seven run fourth inning was the big separator in this one. SS Paul Hendrix singled in a run to give the Hillcats 4-3 lead. Mark Mathias followed by working a base loaded walk, and then the big blow came from Anthony Santander. He hit a grand slam, which accounted for four of his six RBI in the game. Tyler Krieger followed with an RBI single to cap off the big inning.
Santander also homered in the ninth inning where Lynchburg added three more runs just for good measure.
The Hillcats lineup this day featured quite a few future big leaguers.
Greg Allen led off and had two hits, scoring two runs.
Santander, who was selected in the Rule 5 draft by Baltimore later that winter, had two homers accounting for six RBI.
Bobby Bradley was 3-5.
Yu Chang, suddenly the hottest hitter in the Tribe’s 2020 Summer Camp, was 3-4 with a homer.
Francisco Mejia was 3-6.
Speaking of Mejia, he was 35 games into his his 50 game hit streak that started on May 27 and continued for almost another month.
