July 13, 2016
After Ken Babby bought the Akron Aeros, made majors changes to Canal Park and rebranded the team to the Akron RubberDucks, Canal Park played host the Eastern League All Star game.
The ballpark looked great, Jason Krizan of the Erie Seawolves won the home run derby. Krizan beat Nellie Rodriguez in the finals. Bradley Zimmer also participated in the home run derby.
As for the game, the East All-Star beat the West pretty handily, 10-2, racking up 20 hits.
The RubberDucks did have several representatives, including Rodriguez, Zimmer, Clint Frazier, catcher Jeremy Lucas, relievers Grant Sides, Louis Head and JP Feyereisen.
Unfortunately, Zimmer, Frazier, and Rodriguez started and went 0-6. Lucas went 0-1 in his only at bat.
Sides threw a scoreless inning but Head and Feyereisen each pitched an inning and gave up one and two runs, respectively.
Dave Wallace also managed the West squad as well.
Current member of the Tribe, Christian Arroyo, started for the West as a member of the Giants and went 1-3.
