It was a cool (57 degrees at first pitch), clear night in Eastlake, Ohio. At the Corner of SOM Center and Vine, the Lake County Captains were down 3-2 in the middle of the eighth inning. 3B Karexon Sanchez walked to lead off the inning and was advanced into scoring position by a line drive single to left by DH Jeffrey Hehr. Both of them would be within 180 feet of home after a wild pitch by Lakewood BlueClaws (Philadelphia Phillies) reliever Ben Pfinsgraff (in his third inning of work). Sanchez then scored the Caps’ first run of the evening on an RBI ground out to first (unassisted) by C Michael Valadez. SS Ron Rivas then singled to center to score Hehr, run Pfinsgraff from the game, and conclude the Eastlake nine’s scoring for the frame.

Following a scoreless, but not drama-free, top of the ninth courtesy of Jonathan Holt, 2B Mark Thompson singled to left field to lead off the bottom half of the inning. LF Roman Pena then walked to put the tying run in scoring position, 1B Dustin Realini proceeded to tie up the game with a single to center that put Pena 90 feet from giving the Captains the victory. the coup de grace came one at-bat later, when RF Matthew Brown sent another ball to center for another single, this one of the walk-off variety. The comeback was complete!

Future major leaguers in the game included CF-RF Dominic Brown, LF Michael Taylor, and SS Freddy Galvis for the Lakewood side. John Gaub, who pitched the seventh and eight frames and would go on to pitch four relief appearances for the 2011 Chicago Cubs was the only future big league player to take the field that night for the Captains.
