The year following the Captains Midwest League Championship wasn’t a good one for the franchise. While that club lacked big names, its pitching was consistent and got the job done. The 2011 version didn’t have quite the same fortune.
However on the morning of May 3 that year, the Captains got six innings from Michael Goodnight, who allowed just a run and struck out 10 Lansing Lugnuts for a 10:30 AM game in Lansing, Michigan.
Dale Dickerson followed Goodnight with two scoreless innings and Clayton Ehlert closed it out with a perfect ninth to give the Captains a 2-1 win.
Tyler Cannon drive in the only RBI for the Captains with an RBI single in the fifth. Alex Lavisky scored earlier in the inning in an error to give Lake County the narrow win.

Relief prospect CC Lee gave up four more runs in 2.1 innings, but also wasn’t the losing pitcher.
Kerry Wood, the failed relief experiment for the Indians, was on rehab assignment, got just two outs but gave up six runs with two walks and four hits, and was saddled with the loss.
The Aeros bullpen allowed four more runs over the games final three innings.
Nick Weglarz, Jared Goedert and Beau Mills did their best to give Akron something to work with, combining for six hits and six RBI while Cord Phelps had three hits and an RBI.
