A daily feature of Indians Baseball Insider, Around the Farm, obviously won’t be able to be produced until there are minor league games played. In its place, for the time being, a fun feature we are going to try out is This Day in Indians Minor League History. We will do some research and try to find some interesting or random box scores or information that happened in the Indians minor leagues on this particular day. We will try to make this a daily feature as long as we can find something to post other than just repeating items from the last few years to avoid too much repetitiveness. Hope you enjoy, stay well and hope we can get baseball back soon!

Eight of nine hitters in the Kinston Indians lineup this day had an RBI en route to a 15-2 win over the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.

While the K-Tribe got contributions from the entire lineup, as all nine members had a hit and five of the nine had at least two hits, it was not a who’s who of future major league talent.

Jason Kipnis, the DH in this one, went 2-3 with a pair of walks. There wasn’t another future MLB player in the lineup with him.

Karexon Sanchez led off and played second, driving in three with two hits, including a solo homer.

OF Roman Pena had three RBI and three walks, but just one hit, which was a two run homer. Pena by the way, has been a pitcher in the Mexican League for the last three seasons and this was actually his last season in the Indians organization.

Catcher Doug Pickens drove in three with two hits one of which was a solo homer. Pickens was done as a ball player in affiliated ball after 2011.

Third basemen Adam Davis had three hits, two RBI and a solo homer. Davis was also out of baseball after this season.

OF Lucas Montero had a pair of hits and 1B Nate Recknagel and OF Abner Abreu had two RBI each. Abreu was traded to the Cubs in 2011 for OF Kosuke Fukudome.

Nick Hagadone pitched the first three innings for Kinston and allowed a run while striking out and allowing five hits.

Fellow future MLB arm TJ McFarland followed with six innings and struck out four while allowing just a run to earn the win.
