A daily feature of Indians Baseball Insider, Around the Farm, obviously won’t be able to be produced until there are minor league games played. In its place, for the time being, a fun feature we are going to try out is This Day in Indians Minor League History. We will do some research and try to find some interesting or random box scores or information that happened in the Indians minor leagues on this particular day. We will try to make this a daily feature as long as we can find something to post other than just repeating items from the last few years to avoid too much repetitiveness. The Lake County Captains celebrated their 2011 home opener and their 2010 Midwest League Championship banner in style with a combined no-hitter over the Dayton Dragons (Cincinnati), 3-1.

2008 second round pick Trey Haley started and went three innings allowing a run with two walks and four strikeouts.

Haley suffered some injuries in 2011 and it turned out his 2010 season would be his last as a starter full time. The Indians wound up putting him in the bullpen, which actually did push his velocity into the upper-90s and it looked like he would have a shot at the majors as a reliever. But injuries and command issues caused him to fizzle out. He last pitched in the minors in 2016.

Fellow 2010 Lake County Captain alum along with Haley, Francisco Jimenez pitched four hitless innings in relief with a walk and two strikeouts.

Closer Clayton Ehlert wrapped up the no-hitter with two perfect innings of relief for his second save of the young season.

Ehlert was an interesting story as he was an undrafted free agent who only pitched in pro-ball for another two more innings after the 2011 season. He retired in 2012 and wanted to do boat and fishing tours in the south.

Tyler Cannon gave the Captains a run with a solo homer and catcher Alex Monsalve drove in the second run with a double.

Gio Urshela was the only future big leaguer in the Captains lineup that day. But Dayton did have Billy Hamilton and Tucker Barnhart in its lineup on the day of the no-hitter.
